Block Island & Outer Banks Cod Capt Steven Jr reports a good start to the day, but a slow afternoon. We started off with a good pick, with a few nice flurries, but then the action slowed down by mid morning to a tough grind. We still managed a respectable catch early in the day with most guys averaging 4 to 5 fish and a couple of high hook guys with 7. We also had a couple of pollock and ling come up in the mix. The first place pool winner was Danny Tamberelli from East Norwich, NY with a 14.2 lb Cod. The second place pool winner was Pete Catalano from Greenlawn, NY with a 12.4 lb Cod.

We are looking to get back out on the next nice day, please check the website or call the office 631-668-5700 for schedule updates.

Block Island & Outer Banks Cod Capt Carl reports another tough day on the Viking Starship. In the morning we had a slow pick catching 6-8 cod per drift, half keepers and half shorts, and that slowed right down to 2 or 3 a drift and eventually we stopped catching all together. We tried numerous drops but only caught some bergalls and dogfish. A few guys had 2 or 3, most had 1, and some had none. The pool winners were Victor Goberdham from Queens with a 5 pounder and second was Mihran Akyemniciayaw from Farmingdale, NY with a slightly small one.

Block Island & Outer Banks Cod Capt Carl reports an extremely slow day on the Viking Starship. We started off the morning in the same zone and on the first drift we had some cod and a nice pollack coming over the rail. It looked like a promising start to the day, however the next drift saw fewer fish, and eventually zero fish. The reason was once again a big seal showed up in the zone and scattered them. From there we went into search mode only finding 2 more keepers for the day. It was very tough. Frank Deluca from Staten Island, NY took first place in the pool with a 6 lb cod fish and William Morris from Rockpoint, NY took second with a slightly smaller cod.

Block Island & Outer Banks Cod Capt Carl reports much improved cod fishing from yesterday. The morning bite was best with some really good drifts, some okay drifts, and some slower drifts catching mixed sized cod with keepers and shorts. We worked the zone for a couple of hours and then the bite shut right down. We did quite a bit of searching around after that, not finding anything, until right at the end of the day when we had one quick flurry of a bunch of keepers and shorts, but that only lasted one drift. All in all it was a decent day for a big crowd and most guys had 3 or 4 cod to take home, and some people had more, and some people had less. The pool was a first place tie between Anthony Mainolfi from…
