Montauk Jumbo Fall Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a better day than expected with the ground swell that was on today and the dirty water. These conditions should settle in the next few days. There were some porgies, a limit of sea bass in the 3-4 lb range and 12 to 15 keeper cod up to 14lbs. We had about 7 blue fish and dog fish that were a bit of a bother. The pool winner was Steve Smith from Sayville, NY with a 3lb porgy.

Wed Sept 30

Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports rough conditions due to the wind, but we still managed some porgies, cod and nice size sea bass in. The pool winner was Urbano Mejia from NJ with a 3.5lbs porgy. 2 Day Full Moon Tuna/Sword Capt Carl reports a good overall Tuna/Sword trip on the Viking Star. Our first night of fishing was pretty slow, we only had a few small yellowfin, some Mahi, and lost a couple better bites. During the day, we trolled around for a bunch more Mahi Mahi. The second night bite was much better, with more mixed size yellowfin, some albacore, one keeper swordfish at 70 lbs, and lost a couple big big ones, and a big beautiful 240 lbs Big Eye tuna was caught by John Dempsey, who was not in the pool. Tue Sept 29

Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a very good day of fishing aboard the Viking Starship. There were a lot of porgies, a few sea bass and about 25 nice sized cod. The first place pool winner was Alberto Rivera from Bronx, NY with a 3.5lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Jack Ng from Flushing, NY with an 18lb cod.

Mon Sept 28

Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports excellent fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. The bite was absolutely great today for porgies, as soon as they got their lines down they were pulling them back up! We only had a handful of sea bass, about 15 cod and one striped bass. Today’s first place pool winner was Frank Anaya from Mays Landing, NJ with a 3.5lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Darling Niciso from Brooklyn with a 13lb striped bass.

Sun Sept 27

Half Day Mixed Bag PM Captain Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing. It was a bit breezy when we first started, but when we finally got a decent drift we had a good bite of sea bass, porgies and some bluefish. Pool winners to follow. We had lots and lots of nice big porgies today along with a handful of sea bass and about a dozen cod. Mixed Bag-PM Captain Dave G reports fishing was slow due to the windy conditions. We did manage a catch of some porgies, sea bass and blue fish. The pool winner was Ed Mackin from Boonton, NJ with an 8.7lb blue fish. Mixed Bag-AM Captain Dave G reports a tough morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star in a strong NE wind. They picked away at porgies and sea bass. The pool winner was Chris Mackin from Boonton, NJ with a 13.5 blue fish. Block Island Behemoth Striped Bass Captain Carl reports a slow night of fishing. It was tough conditions which made for tough fishing and e made out with only one bass and just a few blues. The pool winner was Alex of Staten Island with a 22lb striped bass. Mixed Bag-AM Captain Dave G reports a great morning of fishing in windy conditions. There were plenty of big porgies and nice sea bass despite the breeze. The pool winner was Chris Mackin from Boonton, NJ with a 3.5lb porgy. Thur Sept 24

Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports that we had action all day long and that the fish were a bit smaller in size today. We had some sea bass and about 1 dozen keeper cod in the mix. The pool winner Mr Billy Wong from New Jersey with a 4lb porgy. Second place winner was Ed Brown from York, Pa with a 10lb Cod. Night Striped Bass Captain Stephen D reports tough conditions last night aboard the Viking Starship. We managed a few keeper bass and blue fish. The pool winner was Andy Corona from Saratoga Springs, NY with an 18lb Striped Bass.

Wed Sept 23

Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports that due to windy conditions fishing was slower today. We did manage to get porgies and a few sea bass and about 40 keeper cod in the mix. The pool winner was Keung Au from New York with a 3.2lb porgy. Second place went to Mr Miguel  ( best life guard) Rios  from Brooklyn, NY with a 9.9 lb Cod.

Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports good fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. We had plenty of porgies, sea bass, cod and a keeper striped bass. Today’s pool winner was Samuel Gomez from Brentwood, NY with a 3lb porgy.
