Fishing Reports

Wed Oct 26- Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a great day of fishing today on the Viking Star. We had a great first drop this morning up close to Block Island which gave us a nice mix of Porgies and SeaBass. After loading up we went “Trophy Hunting” in a few little spots off the island and we found them. We founds lots of BIG stuff, jumbo SeaBass up to 5 lbs, along with 1/2 a dozen keeper Cod fish, our limit of large Porgies and tons of Mackerell. Overall, a great day filled with large fish. The pool winner today went to Nuno Amor from Manhattan, NY with a 3 lb Porgy. We will be sailing again tomorrow (Thursday, October 26) at 5 am for the Block Island Porgies and SeaBass.

Tue Oct 25 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies& Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Star. We started fishing inshore at Block Island and found mostly smaller Porgies. We worked our way offshore and had an excellent Sea Bass bite everywhere we tried with some really nice sized ones. At the end of the day we found a pile of Porgies in…

Sun Oct 23 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing today on the Viking Superstar despite the rainy conditions. Fishing was a little different than its been, the SeaBass were biting hard so we had to pick through a bunch of them to get to the nice keeper sized ones and easily had our limit of those. Porgy fishing was good, but it we had to pick through the SeaBass to get them, but definitely had some nice sized ones. The first place pool winner went to Rodolfo De Guzman from Bowie, Maryland with a 4 lb Porgy. Tomorrow’s 5am Porgy and SeaBass trip is cancelled due to weather (Monday, October 24th).

Fri Oct 21 to Sun Oct 23- 60 Hour Tuna/Mahi LTD

Capt JR reports another excellent trip onboard the Viking Star. We started poking around in the deep and found a few scattered Yellow Fin Tuna. Around sunset, far from the fleet of boats, we found a giant mass of Yellow Fin Tuna. Jigs, bait, ANYTHING had rods bent over the rail from bow to stern….

Sat Oct 22- Viking Starlite Full Day Private Charter

Capt Steven Sr reports a great day of fishing today on our private charter on the Viking Starlite. We started our morning fishing closer to shore for Porgies and SeaBass and had a lot of small stuff. We then decided to work our way into the deeper water where we found much nicer stuff. The size was much better with large and jumbo SeaBass and medium to large Scup, as well a few Cod fish and Mackerell. We managed to spend the day picking away at the fish to end the day with a happy bunch and happy coolers. What a phenominal group we had today on the boat and we would like to thank the fishing club for coming out this morning!

Sat Oct 22- Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports an excellent day of fishing today on the Viking Star. We fished up close in the shallow water off of Block Island for most the day, where we had a nice mix of Porgies and SeaBass. The Porgies were on the medium to large size with a few jumbos and we had…

Wed Oct 19 – Blackfish & Sea Bass – Viking Starlite

Capt Steven Sr reports a great day of fishing despite the windy conditions today on the Viking Starlite. We had a tough go with the weather, but that didn’t stop the bite, we had some serious Block Island Bruisers! There was a nice pick of large Black fish, Cod fish, Sea bass and jumbo Porgies;…

Wed Oct 19 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a more difficult day of fishing today on the Viking Star. The wind was blowing so we spent most the day anchored up and managed to get a slow pick of some Porgies and SeaBass. The Porgy pool winner went to Dany Yeun from Queens with a 2.8 lb Porgy. We will…

Sun Oct 16 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a decent day of fishing today in the Viking Star. Today wasn’t quite as good as its been, but not slow. We had a pretty steady pick with everyone getting a handful of fish at every drop, mostly on the large size for the Porgies and SeaBass, but a few small bass in the mix. We had plenty of Mackerell to full everyone’s buckets, along with 8-10 Cod fish caught on the boat. The pool winner for today went to Admir Capric from Staten Island with a large 3.5 lb Porgy. we will be sailing again tomorrow on the Viking Star for the 5 am Block Island Porgies and SeaBass (Monday, October 17th).
