Mon Sept 19 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. We started the morning fishing in the shallow waters close in to Block Island where we had some mixed sizes of Porgies and SeaBass ranging from small to medium with a few keeper Striped Bass that fit the slot size. We then worked our way offshore into the deeper water where we found some real trophies. It was a slow pick, but we had some large sized Porgies and some big SeaBass. The first place pool winner went to Harry Alexander from the Bronx with a 2.8 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner went to Vicktor Hugo with a 4 lb SeaBass. We will definitely be sailing tomorrow (Tuesday, September 20th) for the 5am Porgies and SeaBass.

Sun Sept 18 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a tougher day on the Viking Starship. The conditions were difficult with the wind making it rough out there. We made a bunch of moves to all of our usual spots and we had mostly Porgies today. It took some patience but everyone pretty much had their limits of nice size Porgies and a few Sea Bass each. Sea bassing was tougher today, but what we found were mostly keepers. We also had a couple of Cod. The first place pool winner was Juan Cautla from Bronx, NY with a 4 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Mr. Park from Bayside, NY with a 4 lb Sea Bass. There were no pictures today because of the conditions. We will be sailing again tomorrow at 5AM.

Sat Sept 17 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt JR reports another good trip on the Viking Star. It was a mixed bag of Fluke, Sea Bass and Porgies. The pool winner was Annie Ceruti from Bellmore, NY with a 3.3 lb Fluke. Unfortunately the trip is cancelled for the morning and we will see if we can get out in the afternoon.
