Thurs Oct 22 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports another excellent day on the Viking Starship. We spent the day drifting close to Block Island in the shallow water. We mostly had JUMBO and LARGE Porgies. We had to pick through the smaller Sea Bass to get to the bigger fish, but pretty much everyone got their limit. We also had about 10 nice Trigger fish. The first place pool winner was Sherron Smith from Orange, NJ with a 3.1 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Delon Campbell from Manhattan, NY with a 3.8 lb SeaBass.

Wed Oct 21- Local Cod and SeaBass

Capt JR reports that they started the day with excellent Sea Bass fishing inshore on the Viking Star. We headed further offshore and had our limit of SeaBass and some really nice Cod. We definitely saw nicer and bigger Cod today than we have been seeing. The Cod pool was won with a 15.5lb Cod caught by Devon George of New Windsor, NY. Wieslaw Jankowski of middle Village NY landed a 5.6lb SeaBass to take the edible pool.

Wed Oct 21 – Ultra Ltd Blackfish & Sea Bass

Capt Steven Sr reports that on our first couple of drops we had some Blackfish and a nice shot of SeaBass on the Viking Starlite. The water was still a little too warm for the Blackfish resulting in a slower bite, so we headed offshore a little further in search of SeaBass and boy we were rewarded. We had phenomenal SeaBass fishing and had almost a full boat limit. We headed back to take another shot at the Blackfish and landed around a dozen more keepers, as well as another really nice shot of Sea Bass and Cod to end the day. Wed Oct 21 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports an EXCELLENT day of fishing on the Viking Starship. We started the day fishing in shallow waters and had our limits of Jumbo Porgies. There were also plenty of SeaBass mixed in weighing in right around keeper size so we headed offshore in search of larger SeaBass. On the offshore wrecks we found plenty of large Sea Bass as well as plenty of nice Cod. Today’s pool was won by Matthew Jin of Flushing, NY with a 2.5 lb Porgy. Lee Hernandez of Brooklyn won the edible pool with a 4.2 lb SeaBass.

Tue Oct 20 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a slower day on the Viking Starship. We had a smaller crowd today and had a slow steady pick of medium size Porgies. There were plenty of SeaBass and about a dozen Cod. The pool winner was Donald Hyde from the Bronx with a 2.4 lb Porgy.

Mon Oct 19 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports excellent fishing on the Viking Starship. We had beautiful calm weather conditions and the fish bit great! We had a mix of Large to Medium Porgies, fishing was great on the anchor for them. We had a lot of SeaBass while drifting and there were some Cod in the mix. Sun Oct 18 – Local Cod & Sea Bass

Sun Oct 18 -Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass – Viking Superstar

Capt Steven Jr reports a decent day with steady action on the Viking Superstar. We had a nice mix of Porgies, Sea Bass and about 15 Cod. The Porgies were of mixed size and the Sea Bass were quality fish. First place in the pool went to Jose Leon of Briarcliff, NYC with a 3.2 lb Porgy The edible pool also went to Jose Leon with a 12 lb Cod.

Sun Oct 18 -Block Island Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass – Viking Starship

Capt Dave  reports an okay day on the Viking Starship.  We moved a lot of times today.  Fish at every drop, the bite just didn’t last.  The Porgies were mostly medium, the Sea Bass were all a nice size.  About 30 Cod came over the rail today.  First place in the pool went to Vasilios Niamantakis from Brooklyn, NY with a 2.8 il Porgy.  Edible pool went to Bernaldo Castillo of Sunnyside, Queens with a 14.2 lb Cod.
