Fishing Reports

Capt Steven Sr reports a tough day on the Viking Starlite. Lots of tide with the New Moon on Friday and an East breeze that strengthened through the afternoon. Some of our anglers got their limit of Blackfish, but not all. We had a nice pick of Knothead Sea Bass and some large Porgies. John Shatinsky of Massapequa, NY won the Blackfish pool with a 6.2 lber. Anthony Cairo won the Sea Bass pool with a 3.3 lber.

Capt Dave reports a decent day despite the rainy and windy conditions to start off the trip. It was pretty much the same as we have been seeing this week. Plenty of SeaBass along with mostly medium Porgies and some large ones mixed in. We also had about 30 Cod. The first place pool winner was Vinroy Jarrett from Bronx, NY with a 3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Luis Pastrana from Edison, NJ with a 15 lb Cod.

Capt Dave reports okay fishing on the Viking Starship. The Porgies were mostly medium size today, a bit smaller than we have been seeing. We had very nice quality SeaBass, quite a few Cod and some Bluefish. The pool winner was Hakeem Abdul-Shaheed from Atlantic City, NY with a 2 lb Porgy. We are sold out tomorrow. Capt Dave reports that the trip was a little slower than yesterday on the Viking Starship. We had a steady mix of Porgies and SeaBass. The Porgies were mostly mediums with a handful of large to jumbos. We had over 30 Cod caught today. The largest amount we have had so far. There were also a couple of Bluefish. Rohan Green from the Bronx was the first place pool winner with a 2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Siu Cheng from Queens with an 8 lb Cod.

Capt Dave reports an excellent day of fishing on today’s trip. We had some really nice mix of Porgies and Sea Bass and over 20 plus Cod up to 15 Lbs. Today’s Porgy pool was won by Alfredo Olivio of Queens, NY with a 2.5lb Porgy.

Captain JR reports that today we had a CODTASTIC day on the Viking Star. COD on every drop. The most COD we have had this year! We also had some excellent sea bass CATCHING. Everyone had their limit of sea bass with cod mixed in. High hook was Brian Martin from Lynbrook, NY. He combined…

Capt Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Starlite. We had a nice catch of Sea Bass and Porgies in rough conditions. The pool winner was another young angler 11 year old Daniel Dowling from Bridgehampton, NY with a 3.3 lb Sea Bass. Today ends our 1/2 Day – Mixed Bag trips for the season.

Capt Dave reports improvement on the Viking Starship. A better day fishing than yesterday, but still tough. We spent the morning looking for some Large to Jumbo Porgies and found a lot of Medium to Large. Later in the day we worked our way off shore and found lots of quality Sea Bass- almost every angler getting their limit. There were at least 8 or more Cod over the rail. Mixed in with the Sea Bass and Cod were some larger Porgies. First place in the pool went to Donald Hyde from the Bronx, NY with a 3.3 lb Porgy. Edible pool went to Kin Man Chan of NYC with a 5.2 lb Sea Bass.

The pool winners were Kevin Kelly,age 11, of Hampton Bays, NY with a 3.5 lb Knothead Sea Bass. Second place went to Peter Taylor, 10 years old, of Massapequa, NY with a 2.5 lb Sea Bass.
