Montauk Jumbo Lighthouse Porgies & Knothead SeaBass Capt Dave reports a slower day due to the conditions at the lighthouse. We had to fish down the beach and anchor up. The fishing was fine and we had mixed size fish with some very big Porgies. On the SeaBass drop we caught a lot of small fish, but everyone went home with a couple. The pool winner was Cornell Armstrong from Teaneck, NJ with a 3.11 lb Scup.
Friday June 22
1/2 Day Fishing – PM Capt Dave reports a slow afternoon on the Viking Star. We only had 1 keeper Fluke and a few shorts. Porgies were a bit slow as well. We had a handful. The Sea Bass fishing is looking good with about 3 dozen throwback keepers. SeaBass opens tomorrow! Our next half…

Montauk Jumbo Lighthouse Porgies Capt Dave reports another very good day on the Viking Star. We had a more mixed size of fish today, but there were enough Jumbo’s in the mix to give everyone some. Most of the fish ranged from regular larges to big mediums. We fished at the lighthouse for most of the morning, then took a ride down the beach and anchored up for awhile. We threw back a ton of Sea Bass, but the good thing is starting tomorrow we will be able to keep them! The pool winner was Milton Slaughter from Brooklyn, NY with a 4.1 lb Jumbo Scup!
Thurs June 21
Montauk Jumbo Lighthouse Porgies Capt Dave reports very good fishing all around on the Viking Star. We drifted at the lighthouse with wind against tide and had a nice slow drift. We had the right conditions to stay on them with everyone retaining their limits of Jumbo Scup. It was so good we were throwing back fish that would be a good size on an average day. There was no pool today, but fish were caught up to 4 lbs. Attention Viking Fishing Fanatics! We have finally received official word from the New York DEC that the Black Sea Bass season will open this Saturday June 23rd! The size limit is 15 inches and the bag limit is 3 Fish per person until September 1st when the bag limit will increase to 7 fish per person. We will be sailing…

Montauk Jumbo Lighthouse Porgies Capt Dave reports excellent fishing again today on the Viking Star. We had to work a little harder today to find the fish, but once we found them we had Porgies up to 4 lbs with everyone retaining their limit. We also had a couple of keeper Fluke and one Striped Bass. There were also some Sea Bass that were returned unharmed. There was no pool on the boat today.

1/2 Day – PM Capt Dave reports okay fishing on the Viking Star. Fluking was slow again, but the Porgies were good once the tide eased off. The pool winner was Robert Palmer from Sayville, NY with a 3.5 lb Porgy.

1/2 Day Fluke – AM Capt Steven Jr reports a slow day on the Fluke grounds. We did manage a lot of action with Porgies to keep everyone busy. The pool winner was Tyler Hansen from East Hampton with a 3 lb Porgy.

Montauk Jumbo Lighthouse Porgies Capt Dave reports excellent Porgy fishing in perfect conditions. We had a slow drift with Jumbo Montauk Porgies coming over the rails with everyone retaining their limit! We also had a couple of Blues and some throw back Sea Bass. Spoony won the pool with a 3.4 lb Porgy.

1/2 Day Fishing AM Capt Steven Jr reports tough fishing this morning due to windy conditions on the Viking Starship. Despite conditions we had a handful of fluke and porgies. We also had a bunch of sea bass in the mix that were released back into the water unharmed. The first place pool winner was Billy Purdy of Babylon, NY with a 5lb fluke. Montauk Porgy Fishing Capt Dave reports good fishing in the rough conditions aboard the Viking Star this morning. We started and ended the day on anchor, we caught plenty of fish on the smaller side while on the hook. We had ideal drifting conditions for about an hour and caught lots of porgies in the 3-4lb range. We also had a lot of sea bass in the mix that were released unharmed back to the water. …
