Wed Nov 1 – Viking Starship

Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass Capt Dave reports an okay day on the Viking Starship. We had to contend with the dirty water left over from the storm which made fishing was a bit tough. There was not much biting close by, so we took a ride further offshore where we found mixed size Porgies that were mostly mediums and pretty good Sea Bass action with fish up to 5 lbs. As the day went on it got better. We also had 2 Cod and some Bluefish. The pool winner was Cheng Sun Wah from Staten Island with a 3.1 lb Porgy.

Night Striped Bass Capt carl reports tough Bass fishing tonight. Strong south wind against the outgoing tide made conditions tough. It also seems that the migration may have started, but we will be sailing for the full moon trip next weekend on Friday and Saturday nights and that will surely tell the tale! Conditions will be right, so if the Bass are still here by then, we will catch them! Bill Nowak from East Moriches was the lucky pool winner with a 22 pound Striped Bass.
