Montauk Fall Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day aboard the Viking Starship. It was a little slower than normal, but we still managed a decent catch. We had porgies, most people had their limit on sea bass and we had a lot of keeper cod. Today’s first place pool winner was Steve Karavas of Astoria with a HUGE 3.9lb porgy and in second place was Ignacio Castillo of Woodside with an 11lb cod. Half Day Mixed Bag AM Captain Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Stariper. We had pleasant conditions  and caught sea abss and porgies. Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a good day once the rough conditions cleared. We had nice jumbo scup, sea bass up to 5lbs and some nice cod up to 18 pounds. The first place pool winner was Bixia Mo from Staten Island, NY with a 3.5lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Charles Lambert from Teaneck, NJ with an 18lb cod. Night Striped Bass Captain Stephen D reports tough fishing last night. The pool winner was January Rice from Miller Place, NY with an 11lb blue fish.

Fri Oct 9

Mixed Bag-AM Captain Dave G reports decent fishing despite the windy conditions. We had a mix of porgies and sea bass. Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a decent day of fishing aboard the Viking Starship. We had a nice mix of porgies, sea bass and codfish. Today’s first place pool winner was Yu Lam of NY with a 3.5lb porgy and in second place was Anton Picinic of NJ with a 14.5lb codfish.

Thur Oct 8

Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a much better day of porgy fishing. We had nice size scup and sea bass coming over the rails today. We also had about 40 keeper cod and some blues in the mix. The pool winner was Sammy Finn from Brooklyn, NY with a 3lb porgy. The second place winner was Benjamin Merrill from St. Albans, Queens, NY with a 14lb Cod.

Wed Oct 7

Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports that he started fishing inshore and the fish were much smaller in size, so he headed out and he got some nice size porgies, but it was a slow pick. He had some nice quality size sea bass about 20 keeper cod and some blues in the mix. The pool winner was Mr Jose Valdez from Manhattan, NY with a 3lbs Porgy Second Place went to Mr Willie from Manhattan, NY with a 8lb Cod.

Tue Oct 6

Montauk Jumbo Fall Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a better day than expected with the ground swell that was on today and the dirty water. These conditions should settle in the next few days. There were some porgies, a limit of sea bass in the 3-4 lb range and 12 to 15 keeper cod up to 14lbs. We had about 7 blue fish and dog fish that were a bit of a bother. The pool winner was Steve Smith from Sayville, NY with a 3lb porgy.

Wed Sept 30

Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports rough conditions due to the wind, but we still managed some porgies, cod and nice size sea bass in. The pool winner was Urbano Mejia from NJ with a 3.5lbs porgy. 2 Day Full Moon Tuna/Sword Capt Carl reports a good overall Tuna/Sword trip on the Viking Star. Our first night of fishing was pretty slow, we only had a few small yellowfin, some Mahi, and lost a couple better bites. During the day, we trolled around for a bunch more Mahi Mahi. The second night bite was much better, with more mixed size yellowfin, some albacore, one keeper swordfish at 70 lbs, and lost a couple big big ones, and a big beautiful 240 lbs Big Eye tuna was caught by John Dempsey, who was not in the pool. Tue Sept 29

Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a very good day of fishing aboard the Viking Starship. There were a lot of porgies, a few sea bass and about 25 nice sized cod. The first place pool winner was Alberto Rivera from Bronx, NY with a 3.5lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Jack Ng from Flushing, NY with an 18lb cod.

Mon Sept 28

Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports excellent fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. The bite was absolutely great today for porgies, as soon as they got their lines down they were pulling them back up! We only had a handful of sea bass, about 15 cod and one striped bass. Today’s first place pool winner was Frank Anaya from Mays Landing, NJ with a 3.5lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Darling Niciso from Brooklyn with a 13lb striped bass.

Sun Sept 27

Half Day Mixed Bag PM Captain Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing. It was a bit breezy when we first started, but when we finally got a decent drift we had a good bite of sea bass, porgies and some bluefish. Pool winners to follow. We had lots and lots of nice big porgies today along with a handful of sea bass and about a dozen cod. Today’s first place pool winner was Michael Ventura of the Bronx with a 3.5lb porgy and in second place was Martin Duxian of Mexico City with an 8lb cod fish.
