Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Montauk

Mon July 23- Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a great day of fishing today on the Viking Starlite. We had another day of excellent fishing for Porgies, having a nice pick early on in the morning with most large sized fish. After loading up close to the Lighthouse we decided to venture towards Block Island into some of the Seabass grounds and found a nice mixed sized pile with some throwbacks, but mostly keeper sized fish along with a couple Fluke. Fishing seems to be pretty consistent lately, with a lot of action all around. The pool winner today was Alonzo from Brooklyn with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. We are sailing again tomorrow (Tuesday, July 25th) at 5 am on the Viking Starship for our Porgies and SeaBass full day trip.

Mon July 24- 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt J.R. reports a very productive morning of fishing on the Viking Star. First thing this morning, we found some very productive fishing with many KEEPER Fluke, Porgies, and SeaBass. Sun July 23 – Full Day Block Island Fluke & Sea Bass

Capt J.R. reports another successful day of fishing the waters of Block Island aboard the Viking Starlite. We started off the morning hot and heavy with keeper Fluke coming up immediately with the occasional knot head SeaBass not far behind. That continued through most of the morning with a 5-6 lb Fluke being a common…

Sun July 23- Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports another excellent day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing remains as good as it has been with a slight decrease in size with more medium and large fish than jumbos. We did however load up well enough to look for some SeaBass to the east. We made a few drifts off of Block Island and picked our way through some little stuff, but managed to find some nice keepers. We did also find a good amount of keeper Fluke and a handful of Mackerell. The pool winner for both the Porgy and edible pool was Jose Perez with a 2.8 lb Porgy and 4 lb Fluke. We are sailing again tomorrow (Monday, July 24th) at 5 am on our Montauk Lighthouse Porgies and SeaBass.

Sat July 22 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports a good afternoon on the Viking Star. We had steady catching all afternoon. Several nice Fluke were caught. There was a great porgy bite and we boated some nice Sea Bass. The pool winner was Nicholas Mapes from Wantaugh, NY with a 4 lb Fluke.

Sat July 22 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Mike reports pretty decent fishing this morning on the Viking Star. We had a nice mixed bag of many keeper Fluke, plenty of Porgies and a lot of Sea Bass. There were many smaller Sea Bass, but we managed some nice keepers. Plenty of action for all of kids we had on board today….

Fri July 21 – PRIVATE Full Day Block Island Fluke & Sea Bass

Capt J.R. a very productive trip to block island today onboard the Viking Starlite. We found some very nice Fluke throughout the day with plenty of knothead SeaBass in the mix as well. All of the sharper anglers onboard easily had their limit of Fluke and everyone had their limit of sea bass. Another great…

Fri July 21 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports a pretty good afternoon of fishing on the Viking Star. We had ourselves another family packed trip, with lots of happy kids, catching their pick of SeaBass and Porgies.  Fishing was definitely better this morning than it was on the afternoon trip, but everyone still left with nice bags of fish. The…

Fri July 21- Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a fantastic day of fishing on the Viking Starship. Fishing today was “stupendous” with large fish all around. We started the morning with a 2-hour drift loading up with large and jumbo Porgies, with very little throw backs. We then worked our way towards Block Island where SeaBass fishing was excellent as well! The Seabass today were much larger than we have been seeing with fish up to 4 lbs. In that deeper water we did see a selection of more Porgies, Mackerell and about a dozen keeper Fluke. Overall an excellent day for fishing. The first place pool winner today went to Noli Reyes from Brooklyn with a 3 lb Porgy.
