Wed Sept 1 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt Dave G reports a tough afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star ahead of the storm. Still we fished through windy conditions and caught some Porgies, Sea Bass and a few short Fluke. There was no pool this afternoon.

Sun Aug 29 – Whale Watching
Another three species day, but a long one The day started out with an Atlantic gray seal (Halichoerus grypus atlantica)feeding in the waters of Montauk Harbor right behind the Starship as we boarded passengers. Conditions were excellent as we headed out to the east where humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) had been spotted earlier in the day….
Tue Aug 31 – Montauk Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports another good day on the Viking Starship. We started out the same as yesterday anchored at a rock pile with a nice mix of SeaBass with Porgies mixed in. We then went off to the east by Block Island drifting. It was a mix of medium to large Porgies and SeaBass up to 4 lbs. There was plenty to go around for everyone. The pool winner was Harold Rogers from NYC with a 2 lb Porgy.
Tue Aug 31 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt JR reports that this morning’s trip saw a good pick of Sea Bass and Porgies. It started off very well but as the tide eased off the catch slowed to a steady pick. A few anglers also boated some keeper Fluke. The pool winner was Joseph from Pennsylvania with a 3 lb Fluke.
Mon Aug 30- 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt JR reports an excellent trip this afternoon on the Viking Star. Lots and lots of action with big Knothead SeaBass and a nice Jumbo Porgies mixed in. Everyone had big fillet bags with delicious fish for dinner. Alex Leiter from Larchmont, NY won the pool with a 4.5 lb SeaBass.
Mon Aug 30 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We started out anchored at a rock pile because of slack water. It was a nice mix of SeaBass with Porgies mixed in. Once the tide started moving we had perfect conditions drifting. We had mostly medium to large Porgies and SeaBass 4 inches to 4 pounds. There were also some keeper Fluke and about 1/2 dozen Triggerfish. Benny N from Queens, NY won the pool with a 2 lb Porgy.
Mon Aug 30- 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt JR reports that we had decent action on this morning’s trip. The primary catch was sea bass with a few porgies in the mix. We also saw a handful of fluke as well. Today’s pool winner was Lila Reich who landed a 2.5lb Fluke. Well done Lila!
Sun Aug 29- 1/2 Day Fishing Trip
Capt. JR reports that our afternoon trip was a big improvement over the windy morning. We picked away at sea bass, porgies, and some keeper fluke all trip long. Some very nice fillets for dinner! The pool winner was John DeBenedreth from Selden, NY, with a 5 lb Fluke.
Sun Aug 29- 1/2 Day Fishing Trip AM
Capt. JR reports some windy conditions made fishing a little difficult this morning. However, we did catch sea bass, a few porgies, and some keeper fluke.The pool winner was Gabryella Vasquez from Bay Shore, NY, with a 5.75 lb Fluke. The second pool winner was Wyatt Kulp from Springs, NY, with a 4.75 lb Trigger Fish.
