Sun Oct 11 – Local Cod and Sea Bass

Capt JR reports a great day on the Viking Star. Stellar fishing today on an abbreviated trip. There was plenty of quality, large Sea Bass with everyone attaining their limit. Some nice local Cod as well. First place in the pool went to Ricky Chu of the Queens, NY with an 8 plus pound Cod. The edible pool went to Adam Elmaghrabi also of Queens with a 4.3 lb Knothead Sea Bass. Ourt Local Cod and Sea Bass trips sail on Wednesday’s, Friday’s, Saturday’s and Sunday’s. Sun Oct 11- Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports improvement on the Viking Starship. A better day fishing than yesterday, but still tough. We spent the morning looking for some Large to Jumbo Porgies and found a lot of Medium to Large. Later in the day we worked our way off shore and found lots of quality Sea Bass- almost every angler getting their limit. There were at least 8 or more Cod over the rail. Mixed in with the Sea Bass and Cod were some larger Porgies. First place in the pool went to Donald Hyde from the Bronx, NY with a 3.3 lb Porgy. Edible pool went to Kin Man Chan of NYC with a 5.2 lb Sea Bass.  

Sun Oct 11- 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Starlite. We had a nice catch of Sea Bass and Porgies. The pool winners were Kevin Kelly,age 11, of Hampton Bays, NY with a 3.5 lb Knothead Sea Bass. Second place went to Peter Taylor, 10 years old, of Massapequa, NY with a 2.5 lb Sea Bass.

Sat Oct 11 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a tough day on the Viking Starship. We had strong wind, fast current and rough seas to deal with, but we did manage our limit of SeaBass. The Porgies were off the bite again, but everyone had some. There were also about 1 dozen Cod. Soow Suk Oh from Elkins Park, PA was the first place pool winner with a 3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Mahammad Mukul from Queens with a 10 lb Cod. The trip is sold out tomorrow and the trip for Monday October, 12 is cancelled due to weather.

Fri Oct 9 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was a bit slower than we have been seeing, but there was plenty of SeaBass out there. We also had about 20 Cod. The first place pool winner was Maurice Wauchope from Hempstead, NY with a 2.5 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was George Reid from Bushkill, PA with an 11 lb Cod.

Fri Oct 9 – Cod & SeaBass – Viking Star

Capt JR reports excellent fishing on the Viking Star. There were Jumbo Sea Bass limits for all anglers. We also caught some cod on just about every drop of the day. The first place pool winner was Paul Shin from NYC with a 7 lb Cod. The edible pool winner was Yoke from New Hyde…

Tue Oct 6 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a slow and steady pick on the Viking Starship. We made a few drops south of Block Island with a mix of Porgies and SeaBass and a few Cod everywhere we went. The Scup were nice size and the SeaBass were very nice size. The first place pool winner was Lloyd McGreevy from Shamokin, PA with a 2.5 lb Porgy.The edible pool winner was Benjamin McGreevy from West Babylon, NY with a 21 lb Cod! Unfortunately the trip is CANCELLED tomorrow due to wind.

Sun Oct 4 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Starlite. We caught plenty of Sea Bass and Porgies. The pool winner was Virva Hinnemo of Springs NY with a 2 1/2 lb Sea Bass

Sun Oct 4 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Captain Dave M reports a very productive day on the Viking Starship. We worked the deep water all day. We had to move 5 times. The bite would be great for the first 45 minutes to an hour and then slack off. As soon as we moved, it got hot again. Mostly large Porgies, a handful of keeper Cod and Bluefish and plenty of Mackerel. Exceptional Sea Bass were the fish of the day. Everyone went home with plenty of fish. First place in the pool went to Jin Hua Chen of the Queens NY with a 3.2 pound Porgy and the edible pool winner was Kostas Plexidas of Cherry Hill NJ with a 5.2 pound Sea Bass.

Sun Oct 4 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Starlite. We caught plenty of Sea Bass and Porgies. The pool winner was John Stella Jr. with a 3.4 pound Sea Bass
