Attention Viking Anglers! All trips are CANCELLED for Saturday Jan 11th and Sunday Jan 12th. Unfortunately, the weather for the weekend doesn’t look good at all, but we are anxious to get back out there after the Viking Fivestar’s great trip this past Monday. This upcoming Monday’s forecast looks OK, but we want to give the ocean an extra day to lay down and smooth out, so right now we are looking to get back out there for Tuesday, Jan 14th! We will be sailing on the Viking Star at 4AM. Reservations are highly recommended so that we will know if we have enough people to sail. Schedule Update: The 4am trips on the Viking Star & Viking Fivestar for tomorrow, Wednesday January 8th are CANCELLED due to weather.  

Capt Steven Jr reports that we put together a great day of Cod fishing around Block yesterday. We were able to pick a few fish everywhere we went and by the end of the day we ended up with 35 Cod for the 5 man group! We had a few short Cod and some big Cunner in the mix as well, but not much other by catch. There are definitely more Cod showing up and it’s looking good for the future. Now we just need the weather to cooperate so we can get out! We have open boat trips sailing every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday on the Viking Star and Viking Fivestar and private charter openings on the Fivestar. Schedule Update We are sailing tomorrow Saturday January 4th at 4am for Cod on the Viking Star. The office will open at 3am for ticket sales. The trip for Sunday January 5th at 4am is cancelled due to weather.  

Capt Steven Jr. reports another slow day on the Viking Starship with similar results. We did manage to get more Cod today than the last few days. Action was slow and we didn’t find any Pollock, Ling or Mackerel today. Will Rubio of Levittown NY won first place in the pool with an 10.5 pound Cod. Mon Dec. 30th Block Island Mixed Bag is cancelled due to gale warning in effect from tomorrow morning through Monday night. We’ll be watching the weather for New Year’s Eve trip.

Block Island Mixed Bag Capt Steven Jr  reports that we had another tough day on the Viking Starship and never found much to work on. Only a few Cod came up and we had some Cunner and Mackerel mixed in through the day. Vincent Yu from Brooklyn took the pool with an 8lb Cod. We will be sailing tomorrow at 5am until 3pm and the fare is $110. The office will open at 4am for ticket sales so come on down. You may also reserve a spot at vikingfleet.com

Capt Steven Jr reports a tough day on the Viking Starship never finding much to work on. There were some Ling, Bergalls, and a small handful of Cod, but nothing to keep us in any one spot for long. DJ Willy from Philly took the pool with an 8lb Cod. This trip will sail daily until Tuesday December, 31st departing at 5am. The office will be closed on January 1st & 2nd. We will start sailing for Block Island Winter Cod on January 4th departing at 4am.

Cap Dave reports the best fishing in the last three days today aboard the Viking Starship. A beautiful day on the water, light winds and warm temperatures.  A slow but mostly steady bite. We got plenty of Ling, Pollock, quite a few Cod and over 25 Sea Bass. No Porgies today.  We were harassed some by Dogfish and had to move around to avoid them.
