Sun Dec 7- Nantucket Wrecks Christmas Cod/Sea Bass/Hake/Pollock
Capt Steven Sr reports our annual Xmas Nantucket Wreck fishing trip was as good as it could possibly get on the Viking Starship. From the first drop to the last every angler was kept busy. The first drop was insane with everyone pulling aboard multiple market-sized Cod, each one 26-28 inch or larger. The second and third drops saw a nice mix of Sea Bass and Pollock. The fourth drop we found “humpbacks”- Jumbo Sea Bass- many exceeding 5 pounds. A very competitive pool in every category! First place in the Cod pool went to Martin Wellen Dowd from Yorkville, Manhattan with a 12 pound Cod. First place in the Sea Bass pool went to Roman Stolyarchuk of Morristown, NJ with a 6 pound jumbo. Edible pool winner was Michael Bunch from Flanders, NY with a 10 pound Pollock.
Sun Dec 8 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports another good day on the Viking Star. Cold temperatures but almost flat calm seas and light winds made for an almost perfect day of fishing. We had a steady pick of large to jumbo Porgies all day and about 30 Cod on board and quite a few Mackerel. Sea Bass were thinner than they have been, but everyone went home with plenty of Scup and half of Viking Fleet anglers also had Cod. Rony Martinez of Uniondale NY won the Porgy pool with a 3.8 pound Porgy and Qing Yang won the edible pool with a 19 pound Cod. The Block Island Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass trip tomorrow, Monday Dec. 9 has been cancelled for weather.
Sun Dec 8 – Block Island Cod/Sea Bass/ Blackfish – Viking Fivestar Private Charter
Capt Steven Jr reports a tough day overall on the Viking Fivestar. We had picky fishing most of the day until the end where we had a good shot at Sea Bass and Cod. We started off Blackfishing and it was very quiet with only a handful of small fish and a couple Cod. We didn’t find anything to work on until the end of the day when everyone on board got a bunch of Sea Bass. We did see a few Cod everywhere we went so things are looking good for Cod this Winter. Our next trip out is Wednesday December 11th, a 30-50 mile wreck trip and the weather is looking perfect. We only have 2 spots open on this popular trip….so give us a call at 631-668-5700 to reserve your spot.
Sat Dec 7 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a slow start on the Viking Star today followed by a strong productive finish. We started near Block Island and then moved East. We had a real mixed bag of fish today. We had good-sized Porgies, Sea Bass, Cod, Haddock and Ling. Everyone on board got their limit on Sea Bass and plenty of other fish to take home. Jiafa Yu from Brooklyn NY won the first place with a 3.3 pound Scup. Tomorrow the weather looks really good, maybe the best for the coming week. The office opens at 4AM for ticket sales and we leave the dock at 5AM on the Viking Star.
Sat Dec 7 – Block Island Cod and Sea Bass – Viking Fivestar
Capt Derek reports a rough start to the day on the Viking Fivestar with heavy wind conditions. We had a steady pick of Cod and Sea Bass throughout the day. The last drop of the day was the best with quality Sea Bass, big green Cod and jumbo Porgies. High hook was Brian Martin with 7 Cod. There are a few spots left on Wednesday’s Wreck trip. Call the office 631-668-5700or go online to book at vikingfleet.com
Fri Dec 6 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

We also saw some Cunners, Pollock, Whiting, Mackerel, and Bluefish. The pool winner was Ernesto Luna from Lakewood, NJ with a 2.2 lb Porgy. We are ready to do it again at 5am tomorrow and Sunday so come on down!
