Fabulous fishing in the fog! Captain Dave reports from the Viking Starship. We had excellent conditions around the lighthouse where we had very good Porgy fishing. Later we did a Sea Bass drift out closer to Block Island where we got great action but had to pick through a lot of shorts in the beginning. Fortunately there were plenty of quality keeper Sea Bass and plenty of large Porgies in the mix. The 1st place pool winner was Warren Bennett from Bristol PA, with a 2.2 lb Porgy. The second place pool winner was Ravi Ramodass from Bronx NY, with a 4.2 lb Sea Bass. +3

Fri Aug 16 – Montauk Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Star. We stayed mostly by the lighthouse and the fishing was really good to start out. We had big Porgies on one drift. When the tide started to run hard went to the east. We found plenty of Porgies, they were just not as big. We then tried to the South for SeaBass where it was really good earlier in the week. There was a ton of action, but there were mostly small SeaBass and a lot of small Porgies. All in all a lot of action and everyone went home with plenty of fish. The pool winner was Jeff Lin from Bayside, Queens with a 2.3 lb Scup.
