New Bedford Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports a tough day with windy conditions but we still manage to catch the limit of Sea Bass and almost everyone caught their limit of Porgies. The pool winner was Mr Stanley Thompson from Bridgeton, NJ with a 4lbs Jumbo Scup. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Stephen Francis reports that fish started out slow, But as the day went on we had a steady pick of some nice porgies. Schedule Update: The Viking Starship’s last day in New Bedford, MA will be this Sunday, June 14th. Our last Porgy and Seabass trip will be at 5am. Fishing has been red hot so get there! The next few days will be your last chance fishing with the Viking in New Bedford for the 2015 season. We will continue to have porgy trips out of Montauk daily. Charter Captain Carl reports a good fun Charter on the Viking Star today! The local crew from the Sherwin Williams Paint Company brought some of their accounts out fishing for the day, And for the first half we caught a bunch of jumbo Porgies! After that we went fluke fishing. And had some keepers on every drift! All in all a great day with a great group! New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass PM Captain Dave reports fishing was much better in the afternoon with some really nice quality Porgies and Sea Bass up to 5lb.The pool winner was Mr John Cheeseboro from Brooklyn, NY with a 3lb Porgy. We still managed an okay catch for the day. New Bedford Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports that fishing has improved today, We had some nice market size Porgies and Sea Bass. The Pool winner Mr Mike Riggio from Voorhegs, NJ with a 4lb Porgy. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Stephen Francis reports another tough day on the porgy grounds. The screen would light up with all the Scup under and around the boat but the bite was picky yet again today.The pool winner was David Torres from HempStead with a 3.5lbs Porgy.
Wednesday June 3rd
New Bedford Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports that we had Excellent Sea Bass fishing today. The porgy fishing was a bit slow today but the awesome Sea Bass fishing made up for it we had Sea Bass up to 4lbs. The pool winner Tanya Thompson from Bridgeton, NJ with a 3lbs porgy. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Carl reports a tough grind on the porgy grounds. They would come under the boat, But we were only able to catch a few at a time and then they would move away. This Was all day long so it made for a tough pick. Beginning Friday June 5th, We will be changing our sailing time to 5.00 am so come early! New Bedford Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a great day of Porgy fishing we had some nice size porgies and sea bass coming over the rail. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Carl reports another great day porgy fishing on the Viking Stariper. The bite was a bit picky today, But those with the skills did very well. Again we saw mostly jumbo porgies. The pool winner was Stacy Carchi from Queens, NY with a 3.90lb scup. New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass-AM Captain Dave reports an excellent porgy and sea bass bite this morning. There was a lot of action with two striped bass being caught as well. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Carl reports a great day of porgy fishing today. It wasn’t as good as it has been because of the boat traffic, but we still had an excellent day with many jumbos. Today’s pool winner was Rich Rosario from the Bronx with a colossal 4.27lb porgy.
