Sunset Stripers Jigging trip Capt. Ant reports another breathtaking Montauk Sunset and another Bluefish Bloodbath with Choppers to 17lbs. We had a few bass in the mix as well, one 25+lber spit the hook at the boat where we never had a chance. Another highlight was the 6lb fluke which was skillfully gaffed by Ant Jr. and brought to its resting place on the Viking Star. The pool winner was Kevin Yamaguchi from Toronto, Ontario with a 16lb second place went to Marino Bass slayer Regina with a 13lber. Check out the pix of both the fishing and the gorgeous sky on the Viking Star. Half Day Pm Captain Carl reports that this afternoon half day fishing trip turned into a half day CATCHING trip. Sunset Stripers Jigging Capt. Ant reports an excellent jigging trip despite an angry SE swell that made for uncomfortable fishing. That being said the hearty crew stood up to mother nature and did a fantastic job on the blues and bass Sunday night. We had a handful of keeper bass, a handful of throwbacks and just enough rod bending action on Gigantic bluefish, Jonny, Jesus of the Elbow Rewinski tallied over 100lbs of whoppa’s but lost a few bass due to jig malfunction. Pool winners were:Tony Regina from Ballston Spa, NY with a 18lbs Second Place went to Dominick Sconzo from selden, NY with a 14lbs Blue fish. Honorable mention goes to Jimmy who after two nights of catching blues landed an 15lbs keeper bass. Jimmy the K.O.D. is over!!! Half Day Fishing Pm Capt. Ant reports insane fishing on…

Flood Chaser Striped Bass Capt. Ant reports an excellent Flood Chaser trip. We started out right at the beginning of the tide and immediately had a bass in the boat. Then the whopper choppers took over for the next hour and a half. Every drift yielded about 5 decked bruisers with the occasional Striper in the mix. We bounced around trying to get away from the blues and did, yet never landed on the mother load. However we did pick a fish or two every drift and by the end of the night we had a very respectable catch with a few fish bouncing the 30lb mark. Pool winner was Jason Dalmasse From Southampton, NY at 38.3lbs and second place was Rich Doyle From Bridgehampton, NY at 35.7lbs. Even our good old friend Ray “Egads” Davis landed one right at…

Block Island Behemoth Trip Capt. Ant reports an excellent fishing trip across the pond on Friday night. We started the night with slack tide and found Behemoths immediately except they were Behemoth Bluefish and they were stacked solid. The first hour was spent with rods bent in half with the 15-18lb Choppers…just like bluefishing of old. Once we started drifting around 1.4 knots we had our first two bass of the night, the first one would turn out to be the pool winning Moo Cow and a true Behemoth at 43.2lbs caught by Justin Cannarelli of Center Moriches. Once we got over 2 kts, the bite died other than a 29″ fish by George “Pulitzer” Jehn. We made a wiggle and found a mix of bass and blues, this piece yielded a 29.6lber among other 15-25lb fish. But again the…

Night Striped Bass Capt, Ant reports another tough night of weather put a damper on the bass assault although we were able to get a Moo Cow out of the slop. We battled ENE winds 20-25kts all night against the screaming flood producing a very slow and abnormal drift for the summer time. We had nothing on the jigs, most likely because we started with the slack. We switched to eels at the start of the tide and had a couple and that was it until the tide started to ease. We had one very good drift at the end of the night that produced the pool fish caught by Erica Fiohr from Lindenhurst, NY 36.2lbs Chris Luke added a 27.8lber to take second followed closely by Jonny “Jesus of the Elbow” Rewinski with a 25.7lber. Definitely tough fishing conditions…

The pool winner was mike nagle from Mahopac, NY with a 6.7lber. The 2nd place winner was Joe Miele from Cortlandt manor, NY with a 5.2lb fluke. Full day Porgies Captain Dave reports a very good day of fishing. Most of the catch was porgies with a few fluke and sea bass in the mix. We caught a 15 lb striped bass as well. The pool winner was Chris K from Astoria, NY with a 3lb porgy. Half Day Fluke PM Captain Joe reports that fluking was a little bit flower this afternoon than it was in the morning. There were loads of sea…

Full Day Montauk Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an excellent day fishing today. We had lots of porgies, some sea bass, a few fluke and some blues. Our first place pool winner was Gil Parker of Montauk, NY with a 3.5lb porgy. Also caught today was a HUGE 46.5lb black drum by Fredrick “Motor” James Shay Jr. The fish was caught with his 7ft uglystick on 20 pound test line with a 2.0 gamakatsu hook aboard the Viking Star off of Ditch Plains in 30 ft of water. He is the New York State record holder for the largest codfish, and now prevails 30 years later with his 46.5lb Black Drum, which has NEVER been recorded in NY. Half Day Fluke PMCaptain Joe reports a difficult afternoon fishing. Between the strong breezes and the hard running tide, it…

Night Striped Bass Full Moon Capt Ant reports a disappointing full moon trip last night. The jigging part of the trip was awesome considering conditions. The variable forecast wind was east about 15kts and made drifting difficult with the 4 knot tide but we were catching every drift. Just like the night before we had about 25 or so total fish, half of which went back in the first 2 hours. It was solid jigging. We also had a mix of big blues and a couple of keeper flukes. Obviously optimism was high as we switched to eels. 1 more fish the rest of the night. We had bites, we had a few moo cows on and fought for awhile, but the bass gods were not on our side last night. They say east is least and I’m starting to…
