Wed Aug 4- 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt. JR reports nice trip this afternoon despite the not so nice weather. It was on the slower side this afternoon once the weather took a nasty turn but, we managed to stay and get a nice catch. The pool winner was John from Massepequa, NY, with a 3 lb Seabass.
Wed Aug 4 – Whale Watching
Whales in the rain! We headed out with excellent visibility and just a light misty rain, hoping that the rain would stay to our south. Oh well, we were wrong, although when the wind was behind us, the rain was quite tolerable. We weren’t really fazed by the rain and continued to search for whales. After about an hour, a minke whale did a full-body breach just 200 yds from then port bow. It was an amazing, yet fleeting sight that only a handful of us saw. An hour later we saw the tell-tall splash of a breach and headed to find a humpback lunge feeding and taking high-fluking dives. These were great sights that made the rainy trip worthwhile. Wed Aug 4 – 48 Hour Tuna – Viking Fivestar
Mon 8/2 – Wed 8/4 Capt Steven Jr reports another great trip with a fun group of guys on the Viking Fivestar. We ended up with 26 Yellowfin, 3 Swords to 160lbs and a pile of nice Mahi. Looking forward to getting back out this afternoon and seeing what we can put together.
Wed Aug 4 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt. Dave reports an excellent day onboard the Viking Starship. We started today at the lighthouse, catching a mix of medium and large Porgies. The Starship then ventured to the SeaBass grounds, where we caught plenty of SeaBass, 1/2 a dozen keeper Fluke, and nicer sized Porgies. Today’s edible pool winner went to Mr. Love…
Wed Aug 4- 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt. JR reports a very productive trip with action from start to finish. Jumbo Porgies in every area we fished with some giant knothead Seabass in the mix. Lots of delicious fillets for all anglers. The pool winner this morning was Danny Hissins from Huntington, NY, with a 4 lb Fluke.
Tues Aug 3- 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt. JR reports avery good trip with full buckets all around the boat. Jumbo knot head Seabass and Porgies bent rods the whole trip and there were a few keeper Fluke in the mix. Big bags of meat getting off the boat.The pool winner was Tyler Nessim from Manhattan, NY, with a 3.5 lb Seabass.

Tue Aug 3 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports another excellent day of fishing with great conditions on the Viking Starship. We started out at the lighthouse and had mixed size Porgies and plenty of them. After that we went off to the east, further than we have been, for SeaBass. The fishing was great with a lot of 3 to 4 lbers. There were also Porgies mixed in. Larry Fitzpatrick from Medford, NY won both pools with a 3 lb Porgy and a 4.2 lb SeaBass.

Mon Aug 2 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. There were nice conditions at the lighthouse while drifting for Porgies. When the wind picked up we headed down the beach and anchored where we found Large & Jumbo Porgies and a handful of SeaBass. After that we went offshore to the SeaBass grounds and had to pick through the little ones, but everyone got their limit. We also found a lot of Mackerel there. The pool winner was Holger Camacho from East Hampton, NY with a 3 lb Porgy.
Mon Aug 2 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt JR reports that despite some windy conditions we had a good trip this morning on the Viking Star. We drifted some local rock piles for some nice Sea Bass, Porgies, and a few very nice Fluke. The pool winner was Diane Miller from Easton, PA with a 4 lb Fluke.
