Block Island Porgies

Wednesday November 20

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a bit of a tough day today with the weather conditions. We still managed a decent catch, mostly smaller fish today, but mixed in size. We had porgies, sea bass and some cod in the mix. Today’s first place pool winner was Said Kim of NY with a nice big 4lb porgy and in second place was Peter Johnson with a 13lb cod.

Happy Veterans Day! Monday November 11

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today. We had a very windy start this morning, so with the rough seas and some dogfish that were around, it was a tough day. But we did managed a nice catch of porgies, sea bass, cod and some blues. Today’s pool winner was Konstantnos Kynalis of Powells Cove, NY with a big 4lb porgy.

Sunday November 10

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day today. It was a very rough day today with higher seas than expected which made fishing a little bit slower than it has been, but we still managed to put a decent catch together. We had porgies, sea bass, about a half dozen cod and some blues in the mix. Today’s first place pool winner was Edgar Clavel of Little Neck NY with a 3.5lb porgy and in second place was Correa Raloudo of Manhattan with an 8lb bluefish.

Saturday November 9

Block Island Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports another good day of fishing despite today’s rough weather. We had a nice catch of mixed size porgies and sea bass up to 6lbs. We also had a few cod in the mix. Today’s first place pool winner was Zoran Milosevic of Middle Villiage with a 3.5lb porgy, and in second place was Shirley Danne of Queens with a 12lb cod. Full Day Striped Bass Captain Anthony Reports tough conditions for jigging as the forecast of SW 5-15 knots was actually a NNW 20-25 knots. We tucked down the south side and had some blues but the water was murky brown. Tuesday October 22

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a bit of a slow day today. The dogs were around today, but we still had a decent catch of porgies. We also had a few sea bass and about a dozen keeper cod. Today’s first place pool winner was Alphonso Akin of Amityville with a 3lb porgy and in second was Phil Mcrackin of West Islip with a 10lb cod.

Wednesday October 16

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a bit of a slower day today due to the east winds. It started out with some smaller sized fish than what we have been getting, so we moved to find the bigger ones. And we found them, but it was quality over quantity today. What we managed to get was a nicer sized. We only had a few sea bass today and also about a dozen keeper cod up to 15lbs. Today’s first place pool winner was Randy from Jersey City with a 4lb porgy and in second was Benjamin Barajas of Queens with a 15lb cod.

Wednesday October 9

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today. The morning started out good with some porgies, but when the conditions got a bit worse, the bite dropped out. We moved to try and find some sea bass, and we did, but they were much smaller than we have been seeing. We also had some bluefish in the mix. Today’s first place winner was JC McLeod of Brooklyn with a 3lb porgy, and in second place was Jeff Greenbaum of NY with a 12lb bluefish.

Monday October 7

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a good day of fishing today. It was a bit rough out today, but we still managed to get some really nice sized porgies and a ton of sea bass. Everyone had their limit of sea bass. All in all it was a good day.

Friday October 4

Night Striped Bass Capt Ant reports a good night of bassing although the beast from the east (wind) came on again and made for unorthodox drifting we saw larger fish tonight with most in the 20’s. JamesĀ  Connors from St James, NY found a moocow with a 32lber Second Place went to Scott Coates from Massapequa, NY with a 24lb. Striped Bass and Blues Jigging PM Captain Ant reports a solid jigging trip Friday pulling Montauk’s fall bounty out of the Atlantic bass, blues, scup, sea bass and a beautiful bonito made for an excellent excursion. Thursday October 3

Viking FiveStar Tuna We returned yesterday late afternoon from another good trip offshore. The first night was slow with mostly shark bites throughout the night. We landed 1 nice yellow fin in the early morning. The next day on troll we picked up a few albacore and couple mahi. The second night was what made the trip- The first half of the night we battled with more sharks and lost a couple fish close to the boat. In the early morning they started to chew. We had them eating the chum on the surface swimming around the boat and started throwing bait to them. For an hour and a half it was lock and load fishing. All the fish were good sized in the 60-80 lb range. After that it slowed up for us and we started to troll our…
