Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day today aboard the Viking Starship. We had quality over quantity today with BIG BIG fish. We had nice porgies and nice sea bass, along with some keeper cod in the mix. Today’s first place pool winner was Embley McPherson of East Orange NJ with a 3lb porgy and in second place was Melvie Casacola of Freeport with a 10.5lb cod. Half day Bass and Blues AM Capt Ant reports a great morning of jigging. Once again bass, blues and bonito the montauk grand slam. And once again jumbo scup rounded out the catch. beautiful weather, great jiggers and bounty of the greatest waters in the world. Happy Veterans Day! Monday November 11

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today. We had a very windy start this morning, so with the rough seas and some dogfish that were around, it was a tough day. But we did managed a nice catch of porgies, sea bass, cod and some blues. Today’s pool winner was Konstantnos Kynalis of Powells Cove, NY with a big 4lb porgy.

Sunday November 10

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day today. It was a very rough day today with higher seas than expected which made fishing a little bit slower than it has been, but we still managed to put a decent catch together. We had porgies, sea bass, about a half dozen cod and some blues in the mix. Today’s first place pool winner was Edgar Clavel of Little Neck NY with a 3.5lb porgy and in second place was Correa Raloudo of Manhattan with an 8lb bluefish.

Wednesday October 9

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today. The morning started out good with some porgies, but when the conditions got a bit worse, the bite dropped out. We moved to try and find some sea bass, and we did, but they were much smaller than we have been seeing. We also had some bluefish in the mix. Today’s first place winner was JC McLeod of Brooklyn with a 3lb porgy, and in second place was Jeff Greenbaum of NY with a 12lb bluefish.

Friday September 27

Night Striped Bass Capt Ant reports another Disappointing night bite. We picked a few but nothing satisfactory for a full boat. We went all the way east to all the way west down the beach, marked everywhere but could not get them going. perhaps the wind against tide & slow drift or perhaps they are chewing ferociously in the day. Monday September 23

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today. We caught fish all day, but it was a mix of small and large porgies and sea bass. We also have a couple trigger fish and 1 bluefish. All in all it was an alright trip and everyone left happy with full coolers. Today’s first place pool winner was Donald Moy of Manhattan with a BIG 3.5lb porgy, and in second was David Lu with an 8lb bluefish.

Tuesday September 10

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports another great day of fishing today. We headed to the west side and found a slew of porgies. We had some time to look for some sea bass, and although we found them, we had to pick through a lot to keep a few. But everyone managed to get a couple sea bass. We did have a couple fluke and bluefish, but it was mostly porgies today. Today’s pool winner was Lou with a 3lb porgy.

Monday September 9

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports another excellent day of porgy and sea bass fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. We slammed the porgies all morning, then decided to go look for the sea bass and we found them! The sea bass were a little on the smaller side, but just kept coming over the rails. We also had some bluefish in the mix. Today’s first place pool winner was Ted Gallis of South Plainfield with a 3lb porgy, and in second place was Nelson Hernandez of Bay Shore with a 6lb bluefish.

Sunday September 8

Half Day Fluke AM Captain Joe reports an okay morning of fishing today. We had fluke, sea bass and a few porgies in the mix. Today’s pool winner was Chip Hazlett of Commack with a 4.6lb fluke. Half Day Fluke PM Captain Joe reports a little bit of a slower afternoon than we have seen all season. We still managed to get a nice catch together of fluke, sea bass and a couple porgies. Thursday August 29

Night Striped Bass Captain Anthony reports horrible conditions which equaled for horrible fishing. We started with slack drift, we got a few blues, then once we got the tide the drift was difficult but nothing mattered. Bass were not on the feed. We stayed out late and finally started marking, but only managed 1 out of a pile. The first place pool winner was George Simmons of North Babylon with a 23pounder and in second was Lucian Forantatas of Croton on Hudson with a 12pounder.
