New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a really great day of fishing in New Bedford today. This morning we had a steady pick of very large porgies. Then we moved and made a drop for the sea bass where everyone on the boat limited out with sea bass up to 5lbs!
Fridays June 6
New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports another good day of fishing in New Bedford! There was plenty of fish, both sea bass and porgies. We had some really nice sized fish today, with nice sea bass up to 5lbs. Today’s pool winner was Alice Jones with a 3.25lb porgy. Montauk Cherry Harbor Porgies Capt Ant report for this mornings porgy trip is simply one word…BAIL!!! We started the day with 2 and a half straight hours of a porgy crush. It slowed with the tide so we made a wiggle to the shallows and found the Goliaths. Steven Bento took the pool with a 3.85 18 and 1/2 inch porgasaurus. In the words of Fred Shea, “boy did we kill em”
Monday June 2
New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing today in New Bedford! We had lots of nice BIG porgies! We also had a few nice sea bass and a few blackfish in the mix. Today’s pool winner was Tonya Thompson of Bridgeton, CT with a HUGE 4lb porgy!
Wednesday May 28
New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Capt Dave reports an overall good day of fishing today despite the bad weather. We had a slow start in the morning, but we hit a a nice pile of fish and then it was on! We had some really nice sized fish today, with mostly porgies. We did have some sea bass in the mix, but not as much as we have been seeing, but still some nice sized fish up to about 4lbs. Today, we had a tie for the pool! Good friends Dennis Phillips and Dennis Holtsmeyer, both of Upper Marlboro, MD came in a tie for first place with nice 3lb porgies!

New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass PM Captain Dave reports a very good afternoon of fishing in New Bedford! He says ” It’s Porgy Time!” He thinks it is the start of some really good porgy fishing! There is a new body of fish coming in, and we had them coming over the rails all afternoon! We had mostly big fish, nice porgies and a few very nice sea bass in the mix as well. The pool winner was Subbaiah Somaiah of the Bronx with a nice 3.5lb porgy. New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a bit of a picky day on the porgy grounds. There were definitely fish around, but it was a slow steady pick. Some anglers did better than others, with mostly porgies and some sea bass in the mix. Today’s first place pool winner was Joel Jones of Hollis, NY with a nice 3.25lb porgy, and Miguel Eacheio of the Bronx, NY, who accidentally took one of the mates fishing rods but it was returned, won the second place pool with a 3.5lb sea bass.

6th Annual Hungry Man Great Trip !! Trip started off with some fluking close to home and had a slow pick of fish, but some nice quality sized fish. Jose Ruiz was on fire on the fluke grounds catching his limit plus quickly taking the fluke pool with a 8.3lber. From there we headed offshore over night and were on the grounds just after light. The deep water started off with the first tile coming over the rail @30lbs, for chris link. The rest of the day we had steady action with a mix of tiles, hake cusk and some large pollock. The second day was all about the tiles, started off with a pick of small and medium tiles on the first couple drifts then we tried a new area and found the quality. most fish were around 10lbs…

Half Day Pm Fluke Capt Ant reports a Sensational afternoon of fluking. Frederick Shea had his daily limit of 5 fish to 5.2 lbs. Angelo Demetroulakos from Brooklyn, NY took the pool with a 4.65 lber. Christine and Mary each caught dinner and Mikey Nelson bagged 4 to 4lbs and a couple blues. George Reid and Shawn Chatham combined for 6. Montauk Local porgies Capt Ant reports the scup have not arrived yet and based on everything else a week behind schedule. We switched to fluke and had 15 keepers in 90 minutes with a Molly Whopper going 7.5lbs. Night Striped Bass Capt Ant reports a hot start to our jigging trip sat night with blues on the surface. Unfortunately once the tide changed they vanished and no bass are in the vicinity of Montauk yet. New Bedford Porgies PM Captain Dave reports that nicer weather in the afternoon on the porgy grounds showed much Improved fishing than the morning trip we had a decent catch of porgies in the pm. New Bedford Porgies Capt Dave reports a good morning in New Bedford aboard the Viking Starship. It was a good start in the morning with some decent sized porgies, but as soon as the wind kicked up it was a bit picky. We also had some sea bass in the mix which were all released unharmed, but it is a good sign for tomorrow when the sea bass season opens! Today’s first place pool winner was Paula Henry from Patchogue, NY with a nice 2.5lb porgy and in second place was Andrew Faison of Atlanta, GA with a 2 1/4 lb porgy.
