Viking Star

Mon March 2

ENUF was ENUF – was had by a bunch of Montauk Boys! Capt Steven and Capt Kenny put a trip together on the Viking Fivestar and it took about 20 mintutes to sell out by word of mouth, and off we went. By flying down on Feb 23rd and returning on Feb 27th this gave us a couple days of nice weather. We landed in Orlando and in 45 minutes we were at the boat in shorts and t-shirts. After getting organized, we left at 3pm and steamed 3 hours. Fishing was on! We fished for mango snapper, be liners, pink porgies, jack’s, triggers. All kinds of stuff! We had red snapper and grouper everywhere we went. Unfortunately they are closed on the East Coast this time of year. For some ridiculous reason it was hard to stay away from…

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing despite the windy weather this morning. We had plenty of porgies, some nice quality sea bass, about a dozen keeper cod and a couple blues. The trip started out just about as bad as it can get, sitting through the whole first night with only a couple shark bites. Block Island Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports  tough day today due to the rough and windy weather. Today was not the greatest conditions to fish in but we still managed an okay catch. We had some porgies with tons of sea bass- most people had their limits on the sea bass- and we also had 2 nice keeper striped bass on the boat. Today’s pool winner was Shirley Dane of Jamaica Queens with a 2.5lb porgy. 3 Day Full Moon Tuna/ Sword Ultra LTD Captain Carl reports YellowfinSANITY on the Viking Star! We arrived on the grounds and started fishing at 10pm. Within minutes we hooked and landed our fist yellowfin. A couple minutes later, another one. Saturday July 13

Flood Chaser Striped Bass Capt Ant reports that we grinded out a catch last night on Flood Chaser Bass, but it was grueling. It seemed every drift started with a fish and followed with a dud. the elbow area was overtaken with gorilla blues and after having only one bass where we bailed them on Thursday, we moved on. Next spot we had one then three, then 0, 0, 0… We tried about 7 other rocks and again 1 here 1 there… On our last drop we had a beauty, the pool winner, a MOO COW LINESIDER caught by Donna Dersch from Syosset, NY. It weighed in at 38lb 17oz! JB Breitstone from Long Beach NY took second place with a 30lb 7oz striper. Overall we caught a fillet a fare. Mike Sadowski had his limit to 20lbs. Half Day…
