Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing despite the windy weather this morning. We had plenty of porgies, some nice quality sea bass, about a dozen keeper cod and a couple blues. Today’s first place pool winner was Nicki from Brooklyn with a HUGE 4.7ln porgy and in second place was Guadalupe Lopez with an 11lb cod.

2 Night Tuna LTD

Capt Carl reports yet another good solid tuna trip on the Viking star! The trip started out just about as bad as it can get, sitting through the whole first night with only a couple shark bites. We waited around for a morning bite that never happened so we finally made a move and anchored up again a couple miles away and within 10 minutes we started catching! They bit very well right in the middle of the day for a couple hours both albacore and some big yellowfins! Then, it slowed to a pick where we would catch one, wait 10 minutes, catch another, and so on, until about 5 pm when we hooked a big eye and fought it for a while but the fish eventually won and got away. During the night, we had another quick shot of tunas, and landed 5 swordfish, BUT, all the swords were undersized and released. All in all we made a good trip out of it and had a box full of tuna and everyone went home with tuna! Zack Weiner took the tuna pool with a 80 lb yellowfin! The Viking StarĀ  is right back out for our last trip of the season and will return Saturday afternoon. Capt Carl, Capt Jerry, Alex, and the rest of the Tuna crew do want to thank everyone for coming with us for this absolutely amazing 2014 Tuna season! If anyone still wants to go tuna fishing, the boats in New Jersey will continue to fish and we recommend The Voyager, The Jamaica, The Doris Mae, or The Gambler. Thanks Again!
