Montauk Jumbo Summer Porgies and Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports an excellent day on the water. There were plenty of porgies and sea bass caught, along with a few nice size fluke in the mix. The first place pool went to Jamall Williams from Canarsie, Brooklyn with a 3.5lb porgy. The second place pool went to 12 year old Aidan Stewart from Redding, Ct with a 5.75 fluke.
Half Day AM
Captain Joey D reports a good morning of fishing on the Viking Star. There were a lot of sea bass in the mix. The first place pool winner was Carlos Gomez from Hempstead, NY with a 9.5lb fluke. The second place pool winner was Michael Sadowski from Queens, NY with a 3lb fluke.
Full Day Fluke
Captain Stephen D reports a good day aboard the Viking Stariper. It was extremely windy first thing this morning so we had to stay close. We had a bunch of shorts and a few keepers. Once the wind died down we went off shore and got on a slow steady pick of jumbo fluke and sea bass. The first place fluke pool winner with a 5 pounder was Miroslaw Szydlowski from Manhattan, NY. The first place sea bass pool winner was Kenny Bachan from Elizabeth, NJ.
Half Day PM
Captain Joey D reports a slower afternoon, but still good fishing. There were less sea bass in the mix. The first place pool winner was Mike Sadowski from Queens, NY with a 6lb fluke. The second place pool winner was Stephaine Hogarth from Fairfield, Ct with a 3lb fluke.
Night Bass
Captain Carl reports a slower night of fishing. We had some action once the sun went down. We caught mostly bluefish and smaller striped bass, with some shorts and a couple of keepers. We also had a keeper fluke. A smaller sized group of fish showed up, so the first place pool winner was Rodrigo Restrepo from Columbia with an 18lb striped bass. The second place pool winner was Mike Nelson from Queens, NY with a 12lb bass.
