Viking FiveStar 36 Hour Tuna
Captain Steven Jr reports we just got in this morning from a phenomenal 36 hr tuna trip with Captain James Schinder and friends. We had lock and load fishing all day yesterday making a quick limit of yellow fin in the 50-70 lb range and a pair of big eyes, one around 150 lbs and the other weighing in at 258lbs!!! It seemed like we always had at least on fish on for most of the day and as many as 7 on at times! Fishing keeps getting better here and we are looking forward to getting back on them after this blow.
Half Day Fluke AM
Capt Dave G reports a decent morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star despite the breezy conditions. We had keeper fluke, big porgies and sea bass all around the boat. Today’s first place pool winner was a tie between Lucas Hippel of Cape May and Kyle Strong of Huntington both with a 6.25lb fluke.
Montauk Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports excellent fishing at the lighthouse with JUMBO porgies! We had a great day with multiple species of fish. The seabass fishing was a bit slower than normal. We also had a bunch of fluke and striped bass. The first place pool winner was Mitchell Yuch from New Jersey with a 4.6 lb porgy. The second place pool winner was Fernando Flores from Brooklyn with a 10.2 lb fluke. All fishing has been cancelled for Sunday Sept 4th and Mon Sept 5th due to tropical storm Hermine.
Half Day Fluke PM
Capt Dave G reports a great afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star in breezy conditions. The fluke were biting as soon as we got to the fishing grounds. We ended up with lots of keepers all around the boat. The pool winner was Gregor Mechaber from NYC with a 5.25 lb fluke.
Full Day Fluke
Capt Sarah reports a great day of fishing aboard the Viking Stariper. We caught really nice sea bass and mainly large sized fluke. The fishing grew tougher as the wind picked up from the impending storm, but all went home with bags of fish! The pool winner was Zack Lemmon from Paterson, NJ with an 8.4 lb fluke.
