Block Island Bottom – Cod, Sea Bass, & Blackfish – Fivestar
Capt Steven Sr would like to thank Richard Harrison for putting together a great group of guys. The blackfish were picky in the morning and made us work. But once we found them, we got them good with lots of quality blackfish caught. We picked up and moved to another spot where we found a nice pile of cod and sea bass. Overall it was a fine day of fishing!
Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a fair day of fishing on the Viking Starship. There was plenty of action today with lots of little scup caught. We picked through the fish and had a couple of big ones mixed in however most of the porgies caught were just keeper size. The sea bass bite was not quite as good as yesterday with most fish in the 2-3lb range with some up to 5lbs. We had about 25 cod fish and a few blue fish today as well. The first place pool winner was Roberto Serrano of Staten Island, NY with a 2.7lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Kim of Baltimore, MD with a 14.4lb cod.
Block Island Cod and Sea Bass – Limited Passenger
Capt Stephen Denaro reports an excellent day aboard the Viking Star. We started out with a slow pick of cod and sea bass with a lot of small fish in the mix. After checking a bunch of spots, we found them! We caught all jumbo sea bass and up to 10 cod per drift, once we were on the fish. It ended up being a great day! Today’s pool winner for cod was Lennox Brown of Bayside, NY with a 14.8lb fish. Taikai Liang of Hicksville, NY was the sea bass pool winner with a 6.2lb fish.
