Night Striped Bass
Capt Carl reports a much tougher night than last night, but we did manage some Bass. The jigging part of the trip was not like the previous night…though there was tons of birds and bait, everything was scattered in a wide area and not concentrated so we only managed a couple of short bass, 1 keeper, some blues, some giant scup, and some sea bass. Once we switched over to the eels, we had to wait for a while until the flood tide started, but once it did, we started to pick away at some bigger Striped Bass. As the current got stronger, we kept picking a couple a drift and put in some extra time to catch as many as we could, but it was nowhere near what we wanted for the capacity crowd. Nick Lazar from Sunnyside Queens, NY took the pool with a 32.7 pound Striped Bass, and second place was a tie between Felipe Ibarra from East Hampton, NY and Mike Francis from Skippack, PA with “twins with fins” 30.4 pounders.
