The Fisherman’s Tim Smith reports from Stony Brook for the March 27 public hearing on New York black sea bass in which a large crowd of frustrated fishermen sees the available options first-hand for 2018. Attendees also learn that an official appeal from the four northern states including New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts is moving forward which could help limit the extent of the harvest reduction, but more information on that won’t be available until about the time the New York Marine Resources Advisory Council meets again on May 8.
