Sun Oct 1 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a better day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. With the wind and swell starting to dissipate we had a bit better of fishing, but conditions were still on the rough side. There was definitely an overall improvement in the fishing today, but it was still a but of a struggle. We had Porgies in the medium to large range, as we’ve been seeing, still no real jumbo Porgies yet. Everyone had themselves a few SeaBass and we ended up with a quite a few Cod fish on the boat as well, up to 10 lbs. The first price pool winner went to Chi Lai from Portland, NY with a 2 1/2 lb. Porgy. The edible pool winner went to Aris Ventura from Manhattan with a 22 inch Cod fish. With better weather tomorrow we are expecting a large improvement for fishing and we will definitely be sailing again at 5am tomorrow (Monday, October 2nd) for Block Island Porgies and SeaBass.
