Fri Sept 4 – Whale Watching

Dolphins, whales, hammerhead shark, bald eagle, and a whole lot more

 

We decided to head west nearer to shore because of reports of juvenile humpbacks, and find them we did, along with a 6 year old humpbacl a bit further off shore that we’d seen in late August. A wonderful trip with nearly 120 Tamanenned’s bottlenose dolphins and 5 nearshore humpback whales, mostly feeding on Atlantic Menhaden (bunker). We found a diverse array of pelagic birds as well as a hammerhead shark and a bald eagle.

  • 12 Great shearwaters
  • 20 Manx shearwaters
  • 60 Wilson’s storm petrels
