Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Montauk

Wed Dec 5

Wed Dec 5 Viking Locals Cod/Sea Bass/Haddock Report Capt Steven Sr reports a picky day on the Viking Star. We started off catching a few Cod, Sea Bass, Scup, Ling, Whiting, Cunners, and even a Blackfish in the morning. We grinded away throughout the day seeing more of the same everywhere we went. The last drop of the day saw more of the same also, as well as a pick of Haddock. We ended up with close to 20 keeper Haddock for the trip, a small mess of Cod, and lots of other stuff to fill filet bags with a couple of dinners worth for everyone. The crew still ended up cutting fish for 3 hours on the way home so all in all it was a decent trip. Jimmy Nigro from Montauk, NY took the pool with a 14…

Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. On the first drop we stopped for SeaBass and they were mostly on the smaller side, but everyone had a few keepers. We then went to the Porgy grounds and had a steady pick of mixed size fish. Throughout the day we also had Boston Mackerel and a lot of Cod with almost everyone getting one. High hook had 5 Cod. The largest was about 16 lbs. The pool winner was Ivan Wang from Queens, NY with a 3 lb Porgy.

Tue Dec 4

Montauk Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass Capt Dave reports a good trip on the Viking Starship. We stopped a little closer than where we have been fishing and found mixed size SeaBass. Everyone had pretty much their limit of keepers after picking thru the smaller ones. We then moved on to find the Porgies and we had a steady pick. We only found a few Cod today, but the Boston Mackerel were back again as a bonus. Overall with the light crowd we put together a good catch. There was not a pool today.

Mon Dec 3

We had a rough start with dirty water due to yesterday’s weather, but it progressively got nicer and the fish began to bite. We had a lot of small to medium Sea Bass, a lot of Porgies, and a handful of Cod. Today’s Pool winner was Brendan Kalen from Point Pleasent, New Jersey with a 2 1/4 lb Porgy, y and Zhzyein from Flushing with a 14 lb Cod.
