Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass Capt Dave reports a slow pick on the Viking Starship. The fish were a bit off the bite today, so we had to try a few spots. We would get a nice shot on each spot, but it would die out after about an hour. We did have mostly large Porgies and fewer than usual SeaBass. Towards the end of the trip we tried a wreck and found quality SeaBass and a few Cod. All in all it was a good trip, we just had to work harder at it today. The first place pool winner was Mark Cho from Manhattan with a 4.2 lb Scup. The edible pool winner was Vaughn Cook from North Babylon, NY with a 9.7 lb Cod.

Capt Jerry reports that our last tuna trip was a successful one! We saw our best night bite of the whole season! During the day we trolled up a bunch of nice Mahi Mahi. Then that night we had a lot of bites and landed a bunch of albacore and lost just as many, so we had plenty of bites. We also caught more Mahi at night, released 2 swordfish, and lost a giant swordfish after a 2 hour battle. It was very promising, and we have room on our last trip, which is a 4 day full moon Big Eye and Swordfish Special departing on Monday Oct 22. Jump on for your last shot offshore! On another note, Capt Steven Jr and Steven Sr went out on the Fivestar for a commercial trip and caught a bunch of big…
