Montauk Spring Jumbo Porgies Capt Dave reports very good fishing on the Viking Star. We started out with a slow pick of smaller fish and we stayed on them and the fish got bigger and bigger as the morning went on. We mostly had porgies, but there were a few bluefish and some throw back sea bass mixed in. The largest porgies weighed in from 3.5 to 4 pounds. We are sailing daily at 4am. The office opens at 3am for ticket sales.

There were plenty of porgies from when we got to the grounds until the last drop. It just got better and better all morning. We had double headers of mostly nice sized fish. Montauk Spring Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports another good day of porgy fishing today. It was the similar to yesterday, good first thing in the morning and then slowed a bit when the tide came on. But right at the end of the day the tide slowed and the fish were on! Everyone went home with a nice mess of fish. Today’s pool winner was Tom Hughes of Lindenhurst with a nice 3.5lb porgy.
