Block Island and Outer Banks Cod – Viking Starship Capt Carl reports a pretty good day of Cod fishing aboard the Viking Starship! The weather was excellent for drifting. We didn’t have any bites in the dark, but once the sun came up we started picking away at Cod catching 6-8 per drift for a little while and then that bite died. So, we did what Vikings do and went exploring and ended up pillaging nice fat healthy green gaffer cods! Some drifts saw 20-25 keepers and some double headers! The Cod were hungrily eating our fresh shucked clams and those who worked the jigs caught well also! All in all we made a good day of fishing with most anglers going home with 4-5 cod each so everyone had some nice bags of filet to take home. We also…

Block Island and Outer Banks Cod – Viking Starship Capt Dave reports a very slow day of fishing on the Viking Starship. The poor weather conditions lead to poor fishing, the fish just didn’t want to bite today! Today’s pool winner was David Ruesch of Caldwell, NJ. Block Island and Outer Banks Cod – Viking Fivestar Capt Steven Jr reports a much slower day then what we have been seeing lately. We had a pick early on in the day and then things got quiet as the weather got worse. We still managed a handful of fish out of it for the day. High hook had 6 fish most other guys had 2-3.

Block Island and Outer Banks Cod – Viking Fivestar Capt Steven Jr reports we didn’t start off the new year will the slammer fishing we had before Christmas, but we still put a good trip together by the end of the day. We had good action early in the morning and after 9 am we only found a few more cod here and there for the rest of the day. Everyone went home with a good pile of fish! The high hook guys had 7-10 fish and everyone else had 3-6 keepers. We’re hoping it was just the easterly wind that made things a little slower but only time will tell. “You got to be there all of the time to catch them some of the time”! And we plan on sailing everyday the weather allows us so we will…

Block Island Cod and Sea Bass Capt Stephen Denaro reports and excellent day of fishing on the Viking Star. The day started strong with good drifting conditions, catching 5-10 cod per drift. When that slowed down we went exploring. We checked a couple spots with each one producing cod and sea bass. The last spot we went to was lock and load, with our best drift yielding fish up to 18lbs. Unfortunately, the gentlemen who caught the 18lber was not in the pool. All and all we had an awesome day of fishing with well over 100 cod on the boat. Today’s pool winner for cod was Keith Lamastro of Rockville Center, NY with a 15.8lb cod. The first place sea bass pool winner was Frank Marro of Oakdale with a 4.2lb sea bass. The crew had their hands full! Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass Capt Dave reports a slower day today, but we did okay. The cod bite was a little picky with about 60 caught.
