Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass Capt Dave reports very good fishing today on the Viking Starship.  Lots of porgies and sea bass were caught.  A handful of cod and couple bluefish were landed.  We picked through the dogfish and were able to put together a good catch.  The pool winner today was Wah D of Brooklyn, NY with a 3lb porgy.  The edible pool winner was Pete Carroll of Staten Island, NY with a 15lb bluefish. Montauk Block Island Cod and Sea Bass Limited Passenger Capt Steven Sr reports a fine day of fishing aboard the Viking Star.  The cod bite was slow and the dogfish were ferocious in deep water today.  We moved away from the dogfish and caught jumbo sea bass and porgies.  It was overall a phenomenal day of bottom fishing.  Today’s pool…

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a good day of fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. There were plenty of porgies, lots of nice big sea bass in the 4-5lb range, a couple codfish and some bluefish. We are CANCELLED for tomorrow Fri Oct 28th due to weather.

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass Capt Dave reports a pretty good day on the Viking Starship. We had porgies, sea bass, a few cod, bluefish and some dog fish that gave us a little bit of a problem, but we fished through them. We did manage a very nice catch and we are looking forward to better weather on tomorrows trip. The pool winner was Christos Bakatsias from Astoria, NY with a 3.3 lb porgy.

Block Island Cod/ Sea Bass Captain Steven Jr reports an okay day of fishing aboard the Viking Star today. We had some rough weather to deal with, but despite that, we ended up with a decent catch. We had lots of porgies, sea bass and some cod. Today’s first place pool winner was Peter Ranieri of Port Washington with a 15lb cod and in second place was Bradley Phillips of Island Park with JUMBO 8lb sea bass. Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. We had a hard wind with a strong tide, but we still managed a decent catch. We had a pick of nice sized porgies and we also had a couple cod in the mix. Today’s pool winner was Roy Tyrell of Paterson, NJ with a 3lb porgy.

Block Island Jumbo Porgies Capt Dave reports tougher fishing today with the wind and tide. We anchored and had a mix of porgies, bluefish, cod and one keeper striped bass. The first place pool winner was Daris Clark from Bayshore, NY with a 3.7 lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Spoony from Irvington, NJ with a 12 lb bluefish.

Viking FiveStar Striped Bass Charter We had a good afternoon jigging around the point today. We ended up 4 keeper bass and 7 shorts along with around 6 false albacore and a couple sea bass and porgies. Today’s first place pool winner was Ernest Wilson of Brooklyn with a 3.5lb porgy and in second place was Mike Smith of Hollis with an 11lb striped bass.

Block Island Porgies Capt Steven Jr reports good porgy fishing today. It started off slow with the strong full moon tide. Once the drift slowed down the fishing improved and everyone filled their coolers. The first place pool winner was Lee Hung from Brooklyn, NY with a 3.8 lb porgy. The second place pool winner was Mike Washington from Brentwood, NY with a 3 lb porgy. 2 Night Tuna Ultra Limited – Fri Oct 14th to Sun Oct 16th Capt Jerry reports that fishing was still slow, but the weather was great until the ride home. Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports a tough day of fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. It was a windy day with the strong moon tide, but we still managed a decent catch. We had some porgies and a handful of cod. The first place pool winners were a tie- Spiro Cano of College Point and Cesar Morocho of Spring Valley both with 3lb porgies, and in second place was Alrick Walters of Brooklyn with a 10lb cod. 1/2 Day Mixed Bag-AM Capt Steven Sr reports okay fishing with bumpy conditions out there this morning. We had a lot of action with a bunch of shorts in the mix. The pool winner was JoAnn Glaessgen from Massapequa, NY with a 3.1 lb sea bass.

Saturday Oct 15

Night Striped Bass Capt Carl reports another very slow night of bass fishing. There are some fish around but they are only eating during the day and are off the night feed. Not even the full moon turned them on. We did catch 1 big 35 lb bass, but that was it. We are concluding our 2016 Night Bass season and Capt Carl is pleased to say that 2016 was one of the most consistent and productive years we have seen in many many years on our 6 hour and 7 hour trips. We will be fishing for cod, sea bass, porgies and blackfish for the remainder of this year and we look forward to seeing everyone again!
