Tuesday October 4

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a bit of a tough day today aboard the Viking Starship. It was slower than normal, but we still managed a decent catch for the windy conditions. We had some sea bass, porgies, a few nice cod and also some pollacks today. The first place pool winner was Steve Bento of Franklin Square with a nice 4.2lb porgy.

2 Night Tuna – Viking Star – Sat Oct 1 to Mon Oct 3 Capt Jerry reports that tuna fishing has gotten better! The weather heading out was rough, but it laid down the first night. Fishing was slow the first night and second day, but the second night was good with a lot of bites. In total we had 17 yellowfin from 40 lbs to 100 lbs, 10 albies, 40 mahi mahi, 1 mako and two short swordfish. We also lost some fish. The first place pool winner was David Yellen from Brooklyn with a 70 lb yellowfin. The second place pool winner was Bob Gregson from Newtown, Ct with a 100 lb mako. BI Cod/Sea Bass – Viking Fivestar Capt Steven Jr reports that we got out on our first Block Island Cod and Sea Bass trip and we had an excellent day! We had good action throughout the day and put together a nice pile of fish. The seabass were all quality sized and more cod were gaffed then measured. By the end of the day we had a boat limit of XL seabass and  around 60 keeper cod with some scup in the mix as well. We have a bunch more of this and other bottom fishing trips coming up this fall. Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today. Despite the rough weather, we put together a nice catch of sea bass and porgies. Today’s first place pool winner was Chiquimquiro Hilario with a 3.4lb porgy and in second place was Bladimir Sandoval of Queens with an 8lb bluefish.

Wed Sept 28

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass Capt Dave reports excellent fishing today! We caught a lot of porgies, a decent amount of sea bass and plenty of cod. The first place pool winner was Steve Schwartz from Bronx, NY with a 4.2 lb porgy. The edible pool winner was George Karas from Queens, NY with a 14.7 lb cod. We are cancelled tomorrow due to weather.

Tuesday Sept 27

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a good day of fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. We had a nice mix today of really nice sized porgies and sea bass and we had about 20 keeper cod on the boat as well. Pool winner to follow.

Mon Sept 26

36 Hour Tuna – Viking Fivestar Capt Steven Jr reports we got a brake in the weather and shot out before the next blow. We managed to put an ok trip together considering  how slow tuna fishing has been this year. The night bite remains very quiet and most of the action continues on the troll during the day. We managed to grab 8 albacore and 1 yellow fin around 60 lbs. With a couple other knock downs for the trip. We only saw a couple of mahi around and not the quality sized  stuff we have been seeing. 1/2 Day Mixed Bag – AM Capt Sarah reports a windy morning, but we managed to put some fish in our buckets. We picked through a lot of short sea bass and ended up with some nice fish. Sat Sept 24

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing. We had to stay inside to wait out the weather and caught a smaller mix of porgies along with 2 keeper striped bass up to 35 lbs. Once we got outside we had better porgy fishing and also had some cod and bluefish. We had a handful of sea bass today. The first place pool winner was Wai Ching Ko with a 3 1/4 lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Ramon Reynoso from Bronx, NY with a 35 lb striped bass. 1/2 Day Mixed Bag PM Capt Sarah reports a tough time in the windy conditions.  Those who stayed at the rail managed to fill their buckets with sea bass and porgies.  We ended the trip on a high note as the…

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a very good day of porgy fishing. We had some really nice porgies and good sea bass to 3lbs, as well as some bluefish in the mix. Today’s pool winner was Thomas Gill of NY with a 3lb porgy. 3 Day TNT ULTRA LTD-Tue Sept 13 to Thur Sept 15 Capt Jerry reports some better tuna fishing this trip. We had 17 yellowfin, 11 albacore, some tiles and hake, 1 cod, some mahi mahi’s, 2 swordfish, 1 mako, 1-50 lb golden tile and we released some swords. Pool Winners: Cosmin Adam from Boston, MA with a 50 lb tile. Bob Gregson from Newton, CT with a yellowfin. Alex Harbanyof from Staten Island, NY with a swordfish.
