Sunset Striper Slam Capt Ant reports a frustrating night on the bass grounds thanks to mother nature. We knew where they were, we just couldn’t fish there with the 25kt wind and sea conditions once the tide changed. even with that we managed two moo cows, Doug Seay landing the largest at 33lbs. The sunset was still lovely though! Montauk Jumbo Porgies Capt Dave reports another good day on the porgy grounds we had a mix of medium to jumbo size porgies we also had some blues, striped bass and a few keep fluke. The pool winner was Juan Carlos Moreno from Queens, NY with a 3lb porgy and he won the edible pool with a 4.5 Fluke. Saturday July 15th
Moo Cow Midnight Madness Capt Ant reports Midnight Moo Cow Mayhem as we had our limit of large and incharge Stripers. All but 2 fish were 25+lbs. Its one thing to limit, another to limit with Trophy’s Paul Cardenas took the pool with a 36lber. Young Ethan Stillwachs was dropped off by mom+dad had 3 keepers (ORL) to 32lbs. Chris Luke limited to 34lbs but dropped on in the 40 class. Night Striped Bass Capt Ant reports the pigs were rolling in the slop!!! We reached the grounds and found muddy water from yesterday’s storm. It didn’t matter. From the start on jigs to the end in eels we picked away on trophy linesiders. 12 fish over 30 and the largest caught by George Jehn at 42.48lbs. Sam Kelley had a 35.66. Multiple fisherman had their limits. Truly a Moo…
Friday July 4th
Montauk Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports Excellent day of fishing on the porgy grounds we had action all day long we even manage some fluke and two striped bass in the mix. The pool winner was Mr Felix Palencia from Uniondale wit a 3lb Schedule Update: Friday July 4th The Ferry between Montauk and New London is cancelled. Night striped Bass for tonight Friday July 4th is also cancelled. Saturday July 5th Half Day AM Fluke and Montauk Jumbo Porgies is cancelled. Thursday July 3
Montauk Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports another Excellent day on the porgy grounds we had 1 striped bass and some keep fluke in the mix. The pool winner was Dan Leacock from Jamaica, NY with a 3.4 lbs Half Day Fluke AM and PM Capt Ant reports fluke insanity on the Am trip. Bail Bail Bail Once the tide got going! We had tons of action with plenty of keepers around the boat. Terri Coleman had 3 to 4lbs, Freddy “Motor” Shea had his limit, as did Mikey Nelson. The Pool winner Michael Magrino from Mamaroneck, NY with a 5.8 lbs Second Place Richard Hoering from Nesconset, NY with a 5.3lbs. On the PM trip, fishing got better. Half Day Fluke PM Captain Carl reports another solid day on the Half day boat. Half Day Fluke PM Captain Carl reports another excellent half day trip. Lock and load action throughout the afternoon with plenty of keeper Fluke. The pool winner was Ben Coleman of Montauk NY with a 6lb Fluke. Montauk Local Porgies Captain Dave reports another great day fishing . The fish coming over the rails were of a nice size. We had steady action throughout the day with all porgies landed being large. The pool was won by Carlos lopes from Elizabeth, NJ with a jumbo 4lb porgy. Sunset Striper Slam Capt Ant reports the Light was alive with life last night with once again producing massive Porgys on the jig, blues and Doug Seay’s pool winning Striper! We had an hour if no tide but that didn’t stop the scup. Super Mate Steve Ho filleted 3 bushels of scup, you couldn’t keep them off the hook. At the start if the tide we caught some blues to 8lbs and unfortunately once we had a fast enough drift it was dark. Still a great night and bags of fillets for every customer. Sunset Striper Slam Capt Ant reports a complete harvest of Montauks summer bounty last night.We had a bushel of jumbo Montauk porgies, bass, blues and a keeper fluke on the jigs. And we saw an amazing sun set to boot!! The pool winner was Taylor Kronuch from East Hampton, NY Half Day Fluke PM Capt Ant reports simply the best fluke fishing trip of the year. Buckets were overflowing with fat Montauk fluke. Fred Shea led the way with 8 keepers orl. A family of 6 had 27 keepers. We averaged close to 3 a person with two massive doormats. Fred Shea’s was 8lbs 15oz and the pool winner was Tim Lucas Montauk, NY with a 7lber.
Saturday June 28th
Night Striped Bass Capt Ant reports a slow night basing with one exception. We took a ride to the Behemoth grounds of Block Island last night for a change of pace as reports of big fish have been floating around. Well fishing was slow across the pond as well but the big fish are there. It was slick calm and we had a slow drift all night. The bait was there but the fish were not stacked around it, perhaps with the lack of tide or the lack of moon. We combed and combed and picked a few beauties. Our first Block Island Behemoth came aboard around 1130p. Jeff ‘Big Man” Thompson from Elmont NY nailed a 40.6lb moo cow linesider. Friday June 27
Half Day Fluke PM Capt Ant reports the red hot bite continued in the Pm trip. The first drift was sick, non stop action with Fatty Flatties making the mark. It slowed a bit as the tide dropped but not for the 18inch and above fish. Aslan ”paul” Kerisli took the pool with a 6.75lber and also had 3 others in the box Steve Trifari had a fat 4.5lber Fred Shea had 3 (ordl) and 10 Jumbo porgies, a true porgynator! he’ll be back!!!
