Night Striped Bass Capt. Ant reports another excellent night of Bassing with 53 Stripers caught as well as a mess of Beautiful Blues. It wasn’t the mayhem of Thursday’s trip, just consistent action every drift until the tide died out on us. We also had to deal with the weekend Googans doing 20 knots through the biomass and about 75 boats fishing the same zone so obviously it scattered the linesiders. All in all, we still put the meat in the box!! Returnees from Thursday, George Jehn and Chris Luke one again had their limit. Chris’ better half Michelle made her first trip and landed her first Starship keeper, then told Chris he needed to buy her a rod of her own…ah what could be more romantic:):)….Doug Seay, who has had at least one bass his last 5 trips didn’t…

Full Moon Night Striped Bass Capt Ant has just one thing to say, GET IT WHILE THE GETTIN IS GREAT!!! 41 fares, 77 Striped beauties. It was an unbelievable night. The moon lit up the sky, the moo cow linesiders lit up the bottom machine and at the end if the night the anglers lit up victory cigars! Every drift produced 5-10 bass with only a few blues in the mix. It wasn’t easy, you really had to let them eat and that’s tough in a 4 knot tide, but those who got it down were rewarded. George Jehn, author of Flying to close to the Sun, available on amazon, was high hook with 7. Chris Luke a close second with 6, Danny Wes with 5. Frank the Greaser Stoutenberg nailed 3 in the last hour alone. All retaining their…

3 Day Tuna And Tile Ultra Ltd Trip Capt. Carl reports a decent trip considering the weather conditions. We picked up one albacore on the troll as we headed to the bottom fishing area. Bottom fishing was OK… We had some tiles, quite a few barrelfish, some northern groupers, and some hake. We were picking away just fine until the wind started coming on too strong, so, we got back on the troll and got another albacore before dark. The first night was slow and rough! We had one mako jump the hook off, and another pup mako released. The next day we battles some strong winds and heavy seas until the afternoon when we picked up some mahi mahi and had a good shot of nice albacore before dark. Once again we anchored up for the night and had…

Night Striped Bass Capt. Ant’s report: Okay so I’ve been sleep deprived since Thursday and I’m trying to find “a” word to describe fishing last night. We’ve used massacre, we’ve used slaughter, we’ve used annihilation. But for the second night in a row we had the kind of fishing that has made Montauk the Striped Bass Capital of the World. Simply put, last nights trip was in a sense, PERFECT. Yes some anglers prefer the pelagic variety, some the cold weather species, some enjoy enticing bottom fish from the rocky or wrecky dwellings. But from the spring through the fall, Montauk’s Striped Bass and their ferocious friends, that being the bluefish, have the ability to create complete chaos and angler frenzy, sheer exhilaration yet sometime heartbreak, but more importantly affords an opportunity to a non-angler, say a vacationer, the chance…

Capt. Carl reports an overall good trip for the John Viol annual TNT charter aboard the Viking Star! On our way out, we picked up a Yellowfin and a couple mahi before we hit the tile grounds. When we started bottom fishing, we had some good solid tile fishing! Plenty of tilefish came up on every drop and we worked the bottom until late in the afternoon. We then switched back over to the troll, and 10 minutes into it, we doubled up on some large Tunas! After a terrific battle, both anglers landed the pair of Big Eye Tunas! Congrats to the anglers for doing an excellent job fighting them! They were approximately 140 lbs and 170lbs! We got them in and continued to troll into the dark, picking up just one more yellowfin. Unfortunately, things went quiet for…
