Block Island Behemoth Striped Bass Trip Capt. Ant reports a difficult night of bassing on the BI Behemoth trip although we did nail one Behemoth Bass of 48.7lbs. We actually started where we left them the night before since it was on our way across the pond but the 20kt east wind made drifting squarely next to impossible. We had a few fish on and a few fish lost. With nothing to show after 4 drifts we headed over to the Island. The drift was a bit better but the seas were a bit angrier. Again we missed a few bites, lost a couple immediately. When conditions aren’t ideal you really have to let them eat. On the third drift, Frank Graci of Lindenhurst let one eat, a 32.7lb slob. The next drift Chris “Cool Hand” Luke hooked into a…
Viking Fivestar 48 Hour Offshore
Viking Fivestar 48 Hour Offshore Report We just returned from our first trip to the edge this year looking for the pelagic species. Overall a slow go this time out, the water just broke the 70 degree mark out there last week and had signs of life around but not much as far as tunas. The first day trolling only produced 1 small yellow fin a mahi a couple skip jacks and a big blue marlin estimated around the 400lb mark. The Marlin put a good show on for us jumping over a dozen time coming closer to the boat every time. Come night fall we had tons of squid and dolphins around the boat for the better part of the night but only had a boarder line keeper mako which we released and a few slashed squid baits from…

Monday July 8 Sunset Stripers Capt. Ant reports a very successful Sunset Striper trip…we saw the sunset, we caught some Stripers!!!! We hit the lighthouse and only caught a couple of rats on the first 3 drifts but we didn’t quite have the tide so we ventured on to try a spot we haven’t been to in awhile. Bust…luckily it was only 10 minutes away so we headed back. Once again fish were everywhere, from top to bottom on the machine and swirling on the surface and once again they were tough to catch. 3 on the first drift, none on the second, 2 on the third…uggh!!! Friday July 5
Block Island Behemoth Trophy Hunt- UPDATED REPORT We got to our honey hole with a trickle of flood tide, but plenty of breeze left to help move the Starship. After about 10 passes all around the rock, we had a whole lot of nothing to show for it. No bait, not tide, no fish. We moved on from there and explored a couple different areas but again, even when marking fish, they just would not bite. We finally got a drift, around 1.2 kts so we went back to the “Rock”. Drifting due east we got our first bite, then second, then third. 3 fish, 3 slobs feeding on the slow moving water. Every fish was green as could be. Danny Wes had the largest at 48lb 8 oz and I swear it fought with the energy of a schoolie…
