Fishing Reports

Tue Sept 9 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports decent fishing on the Viking Starship. There was a light crowd today. We fished west of Block Island and had good Porgy & Sea Bass fishing in the less than ideal conditions. Everyone had a couple of Sea Bass each and a pail or so of Porgies. No pool.

Mon Sept 8 – Montauk Ligthhouse Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Seabass

Capt Dave reports a steady bite throughout the day with plenty of action on Porgies and Seabass, along with a few Fluke and even a couple of Bonito to round things out. We worked west of Block Island where the Porgies and Seabass were not only plentiful but also of impressive size. By the end of the trip, everyone aboard had more than enough fish to take home. Overall, it was a successful trip and a great day of fishing on the water. The pool winner was Jesus D. Valle, from Brooklyn, NY, with a 3.2 lb Porgy.

Sun Sept 7 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Seabass

Captain Dave reports decent action today. We stayed by the lighthouse due to the conditions and found steady action, though most of the fish were on the smaller side. There were plenty of short Porgies and Seabass that had to go back, but everyone managed to put some nice keepers in the cooler. We also…

Sat Sept 7 – Full Moon Striped Bass

Capt JR reports an EXCELLENT night of trophy Striped Bass catching onboard the Viking Starship. It was a literal Striped Bass bonanza with big beautiful trophies bending rods up and down the entire 140 feet of the boat. Drift after drift the red hot action continued through the night. Although the fish were all way…

Sat Sept 6 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Dave G reports a slower afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Starlite in very breezy conditions. We did manage to catch some short Fluke and Seabass, with 1 nice size keeper Fluke in the mix. There was no pool this afternoon. Angelo M had the largest fish on the boat, a 5 lb. Fluke.

Sat Sept 6 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a decent day on the Viking Starship. Fishing was very slow and rough all day due to wind and tide. We were able to catch many small sizes of Porgies and Sea Bass that we couldn’t put in the buckets and take home. However, Perseverance allowed some people to catch some good…

Sat Sep 6 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a very good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Starlite. We had breezy conditions, but the fish were very hungry! In spite the tough drifts, we had lots of Fluke biting during the entire trip. We ended up with about a dozen keepers, plus some nice size Porgies and a big…

Mon Sept 1 to Thurs Sept 4 – 3 Day TNT Ltd.

Capt JR reports an EXCELLENT start to the 2025 offshore season onboard the mighty Viking Star. Our first TNT trip was very successful as we captured a multitude of deep water species with INSANE tuna catching. We had QUALITY Viking GoldenTilefish, Blue Line Tilefish, Hake, Cusk, Streamer Bass, Swordfish, Mahi Mahi, and a limit of…

Thurs Sept 4 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a decent day on the Viking Starship. We started out further to the south in the deep water and drifted working on Sea Bass and Triggerfish. We had to go through a bunch of smaller fish, but everyone got a few. We finished up the trip drifting by the lighthouse picking away…

Wed Sept 3 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a decent day on the Viking Starship. We started out the trip like yesterday south of the lighthouse, but with different results. The bite just wasn’t on there, so we moved further south and had a lot of Sea Bass of mixed size, Bluefish and only 1 keeper Triggerfish today. We drilled…
