Mon Oct 10

LATEST SCHEDULE UPDATE We are on schedule to sail tomorrow Tuesday, October 11th for the Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass Trip departing at 5AM. We will be sailing tomorrow Tue, Oct 11th at 8AM for a 2 Night Tuna Ultra LTD. The weather is looking great and we are looking forward to getting back out there! We still have space available. Call the office to book. We have just added Block Island Cod/Sea Bass Limited Passenger Trips on the Viking Star beginning Saturday, October 22nd. The trip will depart at 5am and return at 4pm. The fare is $125. It is limited to 45 passengers. Rod rental on boat.

Sun Oct 9

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a good day of fishing today despite the weather. We had a nice catch of good sized sea bass and porgies until the weather turned and we had to come home early. Today’s pool winner was James B with a 3lb porgy. We are cancelled for tomorrow Mon Oct 10 due to the weather, but call the office at 631-668-5700 to make reservations for Tuesday. Half Day Mixed Bag AM Capt Jerry reports a good day of fishing aboard the Viking Star.  Lots of fish were caught with nice big sea bass and smaller sized porgies.  Today’s pool winner was Angelo Demetroulakous of Brooklyn with a 3lb sea bass.

Saturday Oct 8

Night Striped Bass Capt Steven Jr reports another very slow night bass fishing. With the fishing being so slow locally we ventured over to the Block Island grounds. We moved around to a couple of different areas and never found anything to work on. Hopefully fishing will improve as we get closer to the next full moon! Half Day Mixed Bag PM Capt Sarah reports a sea bass massacre this afternoon on the Viking Stariper! We caught a lot of big hungry sea bass and some huge porgies. By the end of the trip we had a boat limit of sea bass and very happy anglers. Both of the pools went to Mark Ganci from Buena, NJ with the first place sea bass at 4.8 lbs and a 6.2 lb bluefish to take the edible pool. Striped Bass – AM…

Friday October 7

Night Striped Bass Capt Dave reports a very slow night of bass fishing on the Viking Starship. We had wind against tide and did not move at the beginning of the trip. We then had a long slack and by the time it got moving it was time to come home. We caught one bluefish. Viking FiveStar Block Island Cod/ Sea Bass/ Blackfish Charter We had another excellent day on the Block Island grounds today! The cod were chewing on the first drop and we filled a deck box of nice fish in the first half hour of fishing. We made one other cod drop and had a good steady pick of cod for over an hour. Thursday October 6

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a good day of fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. Lots of fun and excitement was had by all today with lots of porgies and sea bass. We were able to move around a bit and had mixed sizes of fish. We also had a handful of nice cod. Today’s first place pool winner was Jon Chen of Queens with a JUMBO 4.4lb porgy.

Wed Oct 5

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass Capt Dave reports okay fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. We had a bunch of smaller porgies with a few sea bass inshore early. Then we headed offshore and had big porgies in the mix, along with 12 cod and bluefish. The first place pool winner was Peter Kourkounelis from Hicksville, NY with a 2.5 lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Bryan Savell from Newark, NJ with a 15 lb bluefish. Tuesday October 4

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a bit of a tough day today aboard the Viking Starship. It was slower than normal, but we still managed a decent catch for the windy conditions. We had some sea bass, porgies, a few nice cod and also some pollacks today. The first place pool winner was Steve Bento of Franklin Square with a nice 4.2lb porgy.

Mon Oct 3

2 Night Tuna – Viking Star – Sat Oct 1 to Mon Oct 3 Capt Jerry reports that tuna fishing has gotten better! The weather heading out was rough, but it laid down the first night. Fishing was slow the first night and second day, but the second night was good with a lot of bites. In total we had 17 yellowfin from 40 lbs to 100 lbs, 10 albies, 40 mahi mahi, 1 mako and two short swordfish. We also lost some fish. The first place pool winner was David Yellen from Brooklyn with a 70 lb yellowfin. The second place pool winner was Bob Gregson from Newtown, Ct with a 100 lb mako. BI Cod/Sea Bass – Viking Fivestar Capt Steven Jr reports that we got out on our first Block Island Cod and Sea Bass trip and we had an excellent day! We had good action throughout the day and put together a nice pile of fish. The seabass were all quality sized and more cod were gaffed then measured. By the end of the day we had a boat limit of XL seabass and  around 60 keeper cod with some scup in the mix as well. We have a bunch more of this and other bottom fishing trips coming up this fall. Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today. Despite the rough weather, we put together a nice catch of sea bass and porgies. Today’s first place pool winner was Chiquimquiro Hilario with a 3.4lb porgy and in second place was Bladimir Sandoval of Queens with an 8lb bluefish.
