Thurs Dec 18 – Block Island Mixed Bag
Capt JR reports a bit of a grind onboard the Viking Star today. Some spots still had some mixed size Sea Bass, lots of Cunners, and a few Blackfish, some Mackerel and Pollock. But, action was definitely a little off. Not a terrible day as everyone definitely got enough for dinner. Trips are cancelled for Friday and Saturday due to the windy conditions expected.
Sun Dec 14 – Block Island Mixed Bag
Capt JR reports another nice day onboard the Viking Star. We had mixed sized Sea Bass all day, LOADS of Cunners of all sizes, a couple Pollock, and some very nice Blackfish. Those who stuck to the Blackfishing all day had a very productive trip. Everyone who stuck with the crabs had a very nice…
Sat Dec 13 – Block Island Mixed Bag
Capt JR reports a decent day onboard the Viking Star. We had plenty of life basically everywhere we fished. Lots of mixed size Sea Bass, some Porgies, Ling, Mackerel, some very nice Blackfish, Pollock, and Cunners made it a real mixed bag. Everyone caught some fish for the buckets, and as usual some did better…
Tue Dec 9 – Block Island Mixed Bag
Capt JR reports a good day onboard the Viking Star. We spent most of the morning bouncing around some deeper drops and found Sea Bass, some Porgies, Ling, and Blackfish everywhere we went. Everyone got a nice catch of quality Sea Bass. A couple of the drops definitely had more Blackfish life than others, and…
Sat Dec 6 – Coxes Ledge
Capt Steven Sr reports an unusually slow day on the Viking Star. We only managed a handful of Blackfish and Sea Bass. There were a lot of small fish around. The Blackfish Pool winner was Theo Zmach with a 5 lb Tog. There was not a Sea Bass winner reported. Sorry no photos! The final Coxes Ledge trips of the season are sailing Wed Dec 10, Fri Dec 12 and Sat Dec 13 weather permitting.
Sat Dec 6 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports an okay day on the Viking Starship. We had a lot of small Sea Bass on our usual spot, but definitely enough nice ones for everyone to get their limit. Porgies were definitely a tough catch. They are moving further away and were mostly mediums. The pool winner was Gershwin Vallejo from…
Fri Dec 5 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a nice day of Porgy & Sea Bass fishing on the Viking Starship. It was a calm but cold day and there were fish at the spots we went to. We tried our usual spot on the first drop and found smaller sized fish than we had been catching. The better size…
Tue Dec 2 – Mixed Bag
Capt JR reports that our mixed bag day on the Viking Star turned out just fine. We found Sea Bass and a few Porgies everywhere we went today. Some spots had better quality overall, but keepers came up all day. We also had some nice Blackfish, a few Ling, and Whiting to round out the…
Sun Nov 30 – Blackfish & Sea Bass
Captain JR reports a good day onboard the mighty Viking Star! The Sea Bass fishing was top quality with everyone getting a beautiful catch of jumbo Knotheads. The Blackfish bite was a bit off today, but those with the “touch” landed some real Block Island bruisers! The Blackfish pool winner was Jack Mathon from Smithtown,…
