Friday February 7

Local Cod Captain Steven Sr reports an excellent day on the cod grounds. The big boys are here! We had a few guys at their limit, but today size mattered with quite a few fish over 18lbs. Doug Heath of Red Bank, NJ took the pool with a 26lb cod and also had another one that was over 20lbs. Mike Kastrati of Flushing, NY took second place with a 23lb cod. Sunday Feb 2

Local Cod Captain Steven Jr reports an excellent day on the cod grounds today! We had lots of quality cod today, with 25 fish over 15lbs and a few fish over the 20lb mark. Things started off slow in the dark with only a couple cod coming up before the sun. By mid morning we had good steady fishing with a few good shots of 20-30 fish per drift coming up. Later in the day, the fish seemed to scatter and we had a pick of a couple cod per drift. By the end of the day we put a good catch of quality cod together for everyone on board. The average angler ended up with 3-5 cod and high hook guys had 6-8 cod. Michael Fronda of Brooklyn took first place with a nice 27lb cod and in second…

Saturday Feb 1

Local Cod Captain Carl is happy to report a nice day of winter cod fishing! Winds were light and variable all day, seas were calm, temperature was warm (for February) and fishing was decent too. We had a few short cod and some ling come up in the dark, then once the sun came up we saw a couple of steady drifts with some keeper cods and more ling. We picked away for a little bit but then things went slow, so we searched around some different areas and found a shot of cod here and a shot of cod there. In the afternoon the bite picked up quite a bit for a little while and we saw some nicer size cod as well as quite a few pollack. Jigs and bait both produced today and as always, some fishermen…

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave and Captain Anthony both report a great day of fishing. It was a porgy and sea bass massacre! We had a hot start with knothead sea bass and nice size porgies. It slowed down with the tide change, so we made a move and found JUMBO of both chewing their heads off piled 25 feet off the bottom. We also had some cod, blues and ling in the mix.
