Monday October 21

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a bit of a slower day today than we have had this past week. The dogs were around today and were a little bit of a bother, but we did manage to get some porgies, sea bass and cod. Today’s first place winner was Donald Moy of Manhattan with a 3.5lb porgy and in second place was Jim Brown of Amityville with a 15lb cod.

Friday October 18

Capt Ant Apologizes for the delayed report but here we go on the bass front: Fridays Pm Jig Trip was Excellent. We had a pick of bass and big blues off the radar to start when that died we moved around to the light and had 3 killer drifts with bass, scup and blues. John Minton took the pool with a 19lber Matt Stanton took 2nd with a 16lber. Thursday October 17

Night Striped Bass Capt Ant reports a bluefish Bonanza on the bass boat and they were BIG. We had most of the flood and could not get through the blues. We picked a few bass at the rip but it died with the tide once we got ebb we found a pile and weeded through more blues and put some bass on the boat. Pool winner John Allen from Hackettstown, NJ with a 17lbs Second place Jason Fox from Verona, NY with a 15lber 2 Night Tuna Capt Carl reports a great 2 night tuna trip on the Viking Star! Tuesday October 15

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. We had a good pick of mixed sized porgies, as well as a couple stripers in the mix. We went looking for the sea bass in the afternoon  and we found mostly medium sizes but we did have a few nice ones. Today’s first place pool winner was Bill Wong of Manhattan with a 3lb porgy and in second place was Donald Moy with a 9lb striped bass.

Tuesday October 8

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a very good day of fishing today. It was very good fishing for porgies today and was okay for the sea bass. We saw a bit smaller size sea bass today but there were plenty of them. Today’s pool winner was Dimas A Sorto of Brentwood with a 3.5lb porgy.

Saturday October 5

Night Striped Bass Capt Ant reports an okay night of bassing.The bite was “softer” than Friday night meaning the fish were there but they were biting less aggressively  tons of swings  and misses but plenty of fish landed as well for those that let them eat. Most fish were in the high teens low 20’s even jesus of the elbow swiped at a few, only landing one.The pool winner Paul with a 28lber Second place Tie Kira Gary from West Islip, NY Eric Cruz Bronx, NY with a 24lbs .Tonight we will be sailing at 5pm sharp Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a good day of fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. Friday October 4

Night Striped Bass Capt Ant reports a good night of bassing although the beast from the east (wind) came on again and made for unorthodox drifting we saw larger fish tonight with most in the 20’s. James  Connors from St James, NY found a moocow with a 32lber Second Place went to Scott Coates from Massapequa, NY with a 24lb. Striped Bass and Blues Jigging PM Captain Ant reports a solid jigging trip Friday pulling Montauk’s fall bounty out of the Atlantic bass, blues, scup, sea bass and a beautiful bonito made for an excellent excursion. Wednesday October 2

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a much better day today than it has been the last few days! It was a good day with lots of nice sized porgies and sea bass. The quality was there today! Today’s first place pool winner was George Orfanos of the Bronx with a 4lb porgy and in second was Scotland Versa with a 4.5lb sea bass.

Tuesday October 1

Viking Five Star Tuna Charter We got back out to the edge for a 2 day trip last weekend with a group of local commercial fishermen. It was not a blood bath but still a good trip to send all the guys home with  a handful of yellow fin a few mahi and a mess of northern groupers. We also had a pup sword that we released and another better sword that we pulled the hook on. It was the first trip where we started to see the yellows on the night bite which was nice to see finally. Over all a good trip with a good group of guys ans a lot of laughs. Monday September 30

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports an okay day of fishing today. We stopped midway and had a good steady pick of mostly smaller sized porgies, and then made our way to Block and picked up some nice cod, jumbo porgies and a few sea bass. We moved again and had 2 really great drifts for sea bass and then the rest of the afternoon was a little quiet. All in all it was an okay day and everyone left happy. Today’s pool winner was David Lee of Flushing with a 3.75 lb porgy.
