Back to Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Friday October 18

Capt Ant Apologizes for the delayed report but here we go on the bass front: Fridays Pm Jig Trip was Excellent. We had a pick of bass and big blues off the radar to start when that died we moved around to the light and had 3 killer drifts with bass, scup and blues. John Minton took the pool with a 19lber Matt Stanton took 2nd with a 16lber.

Night Striped Bass
Captain Ant reports an absolute slammer trip last night.  It was absolutely the best night trip of the year when it comes to catching fish.  From the start to the finish we bailed both bass and blues although the bass bite was concentrated into a 2 hour window, which was enough for most to land a linesider.  At about 10p the wind turned northwest and held up our drift so we only managed a few bass after that.  But before it it was drift after drift of at least 20 fish a drift with a mix of the two species.  Special Mention goes to Andy Sich of Whitestone who wanted the world to know he limited out for the first time,  Andy was among a few who had their limit.  John Ferrante Jr of Medford took a mega pool with a 26lber and Greg Martinelli came all the way from Hatboro PA took second with a 25lber.  Our favorite patron Rodney Franklin nailed a beauty as did Martin Wellen Dowd, prayers go out to you and your mom Marty!!

Stellar job by Captain Eric and mates Justin and Jesse as drift after chaotic drifthad the bow guys landing at the stern and the stern guys at the bow.

Half Day Jigging Striped Bass & Blues PM
Captain Ant reports a Bluesfest for our afternoon jig.  It was awesome fishing with average size of the blues going 14lbs.  Action was nonstop but it was tough getting through them other than a pool winning bass by Guido Grazioso from Brooklyn and a few monster scup.

Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports a pretty good day despite the rough weather today. In the morning we had an excellent bite with a nice mix porgies, cod and big sea bass. Later on it slowed down a bit, we were still pulling really nice sized fish over the rail. It was overall really nice quality big fish today.
