Night Striped Bass
Captain Anthony can finally say MOOOOO! We got them big last night, late but big! We caught the last of the flood and the fish were stacked! We were only able to manage 1 keeper and 1 shorty in these drifts. We bailed the scup and fluke on the jigs so at least rods were bending. We sat through 2 full hours of lull, lost a couple of nice bites, but with an hour to go the big boys started biting. We had a total of 4 fish over 30lbs! George “Novelist” Jehn nailed a 38.5lb and a 31.7lb striped bass. Gunther Vanderdoesch took with pool with a 38lb 8 oz striper and Chase Derasmi took second place with his 33lb striper. Justin, Bryan and Jesse did a phenomenal job assisting all of the anglers aboard the 140′ Viking Starship.
Half Day Fluke AM
Captain Anthony reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Starship. There was lots of action with lots of shorties, we had 23 keeper fluke along with some sea bass (all released unharmed). Freddy “Motor” Shea caught his limit and Paul had 2 beauties. Today’s first place pool winner was Marsha Bullock of Brooklyn with a 4.5lb fluke and in second was Tommy Profaci of Maplewood NJ with a 3.8lb fluke.
Full Day Montauk Porgies
Captain Dave reports red hot fishing today. The bite was good all day. Porgies were mixed in size. We had some really nice jumbo porgies. We had a dozen keeper fluke and 5 keeper bass. Sea bass were caught as well and all were released. The pool winner was Mike Smith from Jamaica, Queens with a 3.5lb jumbo porgy.
Half Day Fluke PM
Captain Anthony reports another stellar afternoon of fluking. We tried for some molly whoppers first and were rewarded with a couple of 4-5 lbers and a 5lb 12oz by our own Jesse. Christine “the dazzler” Dassler took the pool with a 6.4lb doormat.
