Night Striped Bass
Capt. Ant reports a frustrating night of Bassing. 15-20kts out of the SW against a strong Ebb…yuck..tough drifting conditions had us drifting backwards in order to keep the lines straight. The fish were there and stacked and biting, but they were biting tentatively. I saw 3 fish come up last night just holding the eel tail, never getting the hook, and it wasn’t from swinging early. You really had to be experienced to catch last night as our regulars, Chris Luke, Doug Seay and Jonny Jesus of the Elbow Rewinski tallied 3,2,2, respectively. Chris himself said he missed about 12 bites. So overall all we scratched and clawed and put a catch together with some absolute beauty Moo Cow Linesiders in the mix as well with two fish breaking the 35lb mark and, by divine intervention a 31.1lber by Jonny. On the jig, Jon set his hook on a fish, an explosion ensued. His rod shattered at the reel seat. Jon was left with rod butt and reel, kind of like reels are displayed in tackle stores. Well somehow he managed to slowly crank in the Linesider…simply amazing!
Half Day Fluke PM
Captain Joe reports a good afternoon of fluke fishing! We had a good amount of fluke and a mess of sea bass. Today’s first place pool winner was Ron Adzima of Ft Lauderdale FL with a 6lb fluke and in second place was Mr. and Mrs. Bazzini from Yonkers with a 4.3lb fluke.
Fisherman’s Special Block Island Full Day Fluke and Sea Bass
Captain Carl reports a decent day of fishing at block island today aboard the Viking Stariper. We started off with just a pick of fluke, but they were all quality fish. Not many shorts, and we picked away until the tide shut down. Then we moved on to find some sea bass and found them well! We had some really big beautiful sea bass coming up all around the boat for a while. We finished up the day fluking on the next tide but only caught a few more. The fluke required some finesse today and Paul was showing everyone how it was done! He limited out with fluke up to 6lbs and limited out with sea bass! Today’s 1st place pool winner was Bill Herrmann of Floral Park with a 6.8lb fluke and in second was Emily Wangelin of Massapequa Park with a 4.9lb sea bass.
Half Day Fluke AM
Captain Joe reports a beautiful morning aboard the Viking Starship! We had really good fishing with some nice quality fish! We had good sized fluke and a gorgeous black sea bass! Today’s 1st place pool winner was Chris and Alex Theudurellis of Hauppauge who limited out and the largest being 7.9lb fluke, and in second place was Ken Cimo Of Mt. Kisco NY with a 6.5lb fluke.
Full Day Montauk Porgies and Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports a slow start this morning due to the tough conditions. But once the conditions got better it turned into a good day of fishing! We had mostly porgies, but everyone did get a couple sea bass each and a couple fluke. Today’s pool winner was Livingston Foreskin of the Bronx with a 3.5 lb porgy.
