Fri Oct 6 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a more productive day of fishing on the Viking Starship. With the wind conditions today we had to spend most of our day anchored up, but we saw some steady fishing while on the anchor. Porgies were on the smaller size today, mostly medium sized, but the SeaBass today were really nice. We again had a nice pick of Mackerell and a handful of Cod fish on the boat. This pool winner today was Trevor Beckford from Brooklyn with a 2 lb Porgy. We are definitely sailing tomorrow, with limited spaces, call or book online to secure your spot before we sell out.

Thur Oct 5 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a better day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Our morning started off slow searching for some piles of fish and finally we trekked our way into some deeper water where we got into some steady fishing. It was a mixed pick of all sizes of Porgies and SeaBass with a lot of Mackerell mixed. We even got a nice selection of Cod today, probably about 8-10 keeper size Cod and even some throwbacks. The first prize pool winner went to John Smith from Flushing with a 3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner today went to Gordon Qin from Queens with a 10 lb Cod fish. With fishing slowly picking back up we are eager to get back out tomorrow at 5am for our Block Island Jumbo Porgies and SeaBass. The office will open at…

Wed Oct 4 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports slightly better fishing today on the Viking Starship. Fishing was still on the slow side since the last storm. It was definitely much improved from yesterday and the days prior, but fishing has still be unfavorable. We spent most our day drifting, which seemed to be better than sitting on the anchor,…

Capt Dave reports a slightly better day than yesterday on the Viking Starship. We drifted most of the day and that worked out pretty well. Porgies were mixed size and there were a lot of little Sea Bass. The bite was definitely tougher than it’s been. There were also some Mackerel. First place pool winner…

Mon Oct 2 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a slow day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Today was a slower day than it’s been in a while, the bite was very off. Fishing would be good for the first part of the drop and would slowly dissipate till we made our next drop. Porgies were still between medium…

Sun Oct 1 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a better day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. With the wind and swell starting to dissipate we had a bit better of fishing, but conditions were still on the rough side. There was definitely an overall improvement in the fishing today, but it was still a but of a struggle. We had Porgies in the medium to large range, as we’ve been seeing, still no real jumbo Porgies yet. Everyone had themselves a few SeaBass and we ended up with a quite a few Cod fish on the boat as well, up to 10 lbs. The first price pool winner went to Chi Lai from Portland, NY with a 2 1/2 lb. Porgy. The edible pool winner went to Aris Ventura from Manhattan with a 22 inch Cod fish. With better weather tomorrow we are…
