Mon May 5- 14th Annual Freeport Tuna Club Charter

Captain Steven Sr’s report from the 14th Annual Freeport Tuna Club 2 Day Fishing & Eating & Drinking Charter:

Day one started out with a bit of a swell and a 35 man tangle- the largest ever witnessed by the Capt and crew! After getting the cobwebs out, it was a steady pick for much of the day with mostly small to medium goldens and quite a few blue lines as well. We’d have a good drift, attempt to do it again and the boat would drift a different direction. It seemed every 1st drop at a spot was the best. Overall, Day 1 produced about an average of 4 tile per person, with a mess of sexy hake, some cod, pollack, ling, a barrel and a beautiful tropical streamer bass caught by the powerful Chris Bellanzoni Jr. Bobby Hindeland out shined the average and had a stellar day at the bow with 9 goldens to 22lbs which took the pool! The orange sweatshirt lives another year! Great Job Bobby!! Mike Kahoud took the largest edible with a slb hake and also had 4 tiles. Ralphie had 4 tiles and 4 hake. Big Steve and Little Sully totaled 9 tiles, 3 hake and a cod. Jon D and John G had their first tiles ever! Timothy “Andrea Doria” Sherman was high hake hook and did land a doormat fluke which was released unharmed. Ken Donofsky studied hard trying to learn how to catch tiles in two days prior, it worked! He had 6 goldens, included a double header, 2 blue lines, and 3 hake which sent him home with a nice bag o’ meat! Captain Harry had 3 tiles, 2 hake and a cod.
We anchored at night after a move to hunting hungry cod and there were a few that came up. Our intentions were to spend day 2 on the wrecks, but mother nature shut down our plans. She also put a hurting on the buffet, but those who stayed up ate like kings! Special mention goes to the smoked mozzarella stuffed with sun-dried tomato!

Capt Steven Sr, Capt Anthony and Mates Steve and Steve would like to thank the entire FTC Members and friends for yet another epic journey on the water. See you all next year, but hopefully sooner!
