Mon Sept 12

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass Capt Dave reports an excellent day aboard the Viking Starship. We had a great porgy drop first thing this morning with very good fishing. Then we went searching for sea bass and cod. We were near our limit of sea bass with the largest being about 8 lbs. We also had about a dozen keeper cod, a couple of fluke and a few blue fish. The pool winner was Jack Ng with a 3 1/2 lb porgy. Thur Sept 8 to Sun Sept 11 – 3 Day TNT Limited Capt Jerry reports fishing was generally slow due to tropical storm Hermine, but the weather was good. Montauk Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass Capt Dave reports rough conditions on the Viking Starship. Fishing was okay today, but not fantastic due to the fast drift. We put a nice catch together of mixed porgies and a lot of sea bass. The first place pool winner was Colombia from the Bronx with a 3.8 lb porgy. The edible pool winner was Tito Agosto from Brooklyn, NY with a 12 lb striped bass. * Tomorrow is our first day of Montauk Fall Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass. Departing at 5am and Returning at 3pm. The fare is $100/Adult and $50/Child (5 – 12 yrs). Bottom Fishing-Viking Fivestar-Mulhaul Charter Capt Steven Jr reports good fishing this afternoon. We had great action with a mess of porgies with a lot of really nice sea bass mixed in. Night Striped Bass Capt Dave reports a slow night on the Viking Starship. We only had one keeper bass and one short, along with a couple of blue fish and 4 big sea bass. 1/2 Day Fluke – PM Capt Sarah reports a great afternoon on the Viking Stariper! We loaded up on some beautiful large sea bass and put on a few fluke. A few anglers reached their limit of 8 sea bass. A good time was had by all! The pool winning fish was 5.6 lbs. Fri Sept 9

1/2 Day Fluke – PM Capt Sarah reports a wonderful afternoon aboard the Viking Stariper. We tried a different area then the AM trip and it paid off. Although the fluke bite was still a bit slow, the sea bass were chewing hard! We had lots of big beautiful sea bass filling up the buckets all afternoon. We did end up with a few nice fluke and all did go home with dinner. The pool winner had a nice 6.7 lb fluke, unfortunately he took off before we could get his info! Thur Sept 8

Montauk Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass Capt Dave reports they went a bit further east today. They picked away at porgies and sea bass in the deep/clean water. We had our limit of sea bass, but the porgy bite was tougher. The pool winner was Rilla Williams from West Hempsted, NY  with a 3 lb porgy. 1/2 Day Fluke – PM Capt Sarah reports tough fishing on the Viking Stariper. We tried numerous spots and depths but only found a handful of fluke. The sea bass though were biting and everyone went home with some fish for dinner. The pool winner was Dave Jurich from Brooklyn, NY with a 6.4 lb fluke.

Saturday Sept 3

Viking FiveStar 36 Hour Tuna Captain Steven Jr reports we just got in this morning from a phenomenal 36 hr tuna trip with Captain James Schinder and friends. We had lock and load fishing all day yesterday making a quick limit of yellow fin in the 50-70 lb range and a pair of big eyes, one around 150 lbs and the other weighing in at 258lbs!!! It seemed like we always had at least on fish on for most of the day and as many as 7 on at times! Fishing keeps getting better here and we are looking forward to getting back on them after this blow. Fri Sept 2

Capt Carl reports just an OK night of Bass fishing tonight. They were chewing as soon as we got to the grounds and we picked away at mostly 20-30 lb bass for 2 hours until the tide eased off. Then, for the whole rest of the night between the East wind and slack and outgoing tide, we never got anything else going. Matt Finn from Westchester, NY took the pool with a 31.5 lb striper. Sunset Striped Bass Capt Dave reports a good striped bass trip last night. We had a bunch of striped bass in the 30 lb range along with some bluefish. The pool winner was Jen Mocbeichel from Montauk, NY with a 37 lb striped bass. Half Day Fluke PM Capt Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had keeper fluke all around the boat and nice sea bass also. The pool winner was Hongyui Smoren of Little Neck with a nice 6.75lb fluke. LongRange Behemoth Bass Capt Carl reports a great night of Bass fishing on the Viking Starship. The bite was on immediately when we arrived on the grounds with multiple moo cows for multiple drifts of all quality stripers. Once the tide died down, they shut down. Then, on the outgoing tide, fishing remained slow with just a couple more smaller bass, but we already had a great catch aboard! Ross Alber came all the way from Medford, NJ just to fish for the Montauk Moo Cows and took the pool with a 39.9 lb beauty. Half Day Fluke PM Captain Joey D reports a very good afternoon of fishing. Half Day Fluke PM Captain Joey D reports another beautiful afternoon on the water. It was good fishing aboard the Viking Star with lots of fluke, plenty of sea bass and a couple of porgies in the mix. Today’s pool winner was Terri Coleman of Holbrook with a nice 7.2lb fluke. Half Day Fluke AM Captain Joey D reports a slow start to the morning due to the slack tide and the east wind. Once we left, the tide started to ebb and the wind subsided, the bite improved. We finished up the morning with a nice catch of large fluke, porgies and sea bass. Just about everyone went home with dinner.
